This is located across from the library. It used to be a park, and is now a stretch of bare land with several rusted metal sculptures. One of them is shaped like an enormous lima bean, which is now red with rust and about to collapse. Sometimes Dauntless climb on here.

Alexander exited the library, a book stuffed in his bag. He adjusted his glasses and walked over to the Millenium. He stuffed his hands into his pockets as he stood by the edge, quietly examining the old rusty sculptures.

Ilene sat on the ground, reading her book. She heard footsteps and looked up to see a young boy. Ilene smiled at him and said, "I'm guessing your Erudite?"

Alexander looked at her in surprise, just realizing she was there. "Uh yeah," he mumbled. He looked at her up and down. "I'm Alexander. You're a Erudite too?" He asked.

"Yes, I most certainly am." Ilene stood up and brushed off her blue dress. She stuck out her hand, "I'm Ilene."

He shook her hand. "Do you linger around her often? I don't see you around the compound," he commented. "But then again, I stay home most of the time," Alexander added quietly.

"It depends." Ilene said, "Do you still attend school? I feel like I've seen you somewhere else." Ilene picked up her heavy book off the ground and put it in her backpack.

"I don't really have a choice," he shrugged. "I usually go straight home after school. Have nothing better to do," he trailed off. "Went to the library because mum wanted me to go out for awhile," Alexander explained.

Ilene smiled, "My mom can't get me in the house. I usually hang around here all day and read." She pointed to the old rusty lima bean, underneath it there was a blanket and a lantern, "See that? I read under there in the night or if it's raining."

Alexander nodded. "Do you happen to be sixteen?" He asks. "Sorry if I'm pushing but I'm just worried about the Choosing Ceremony this year," he sighed. "It's my turn this year and I don't know if I should stay here or not." He stares up at the sky, thoughtfully.

Ilene nodded, her smile fading, "I am. I'm not sure if I should stay here. I like reading and all, but I don't feel like I fit here. I don't 'thirst for knowledge' like some Erudites."

The pale boy smiled faintly. "I don't mind studying or reading either," he agreed. Alexander looks at her again. "It's just.. Everything seems so slow-paced," he thought aloud. "Same thing almost everyday, well for me."

"I've always had an interest in Dauntless." Ilene said, looking over at Alexander. She felt through her dress pocket and brought out two blue lollipops, she offered one to Alexander.

"I'm indecisive when it comes to these things," he said airily. He accepted the lollipop and unwrapped it, sticking it in his mouth as he stuffed the wrapper in his bag. "I guess I'll let the Aptitude Test decide."

Ilene took her lollipop out of her mouth to talk, "Same with me." It began to rain over the two, Ilene yelled, while running, "Under the lima bean!"

Alexander flipped over his hood and sprinted over to the lima bean. He watched the water quickly pour down. "Mum's going to get worried," he thought. He craned his head around and examined the bean carefully. "How old is this?" He exclaimed as he saw the different dents and rust marks.

"I don't know. But judging by the layers of rust, a long time." Ilene said, she sat down on the blanket and turned on the lantern.

He crouched down next to her. Alexander wiped off his glasses and stared out onto the road. "Hey," he started. "Honestly, this is one of the longest times I've ever talked to someone," Alexander said.
