Oh goodness no. We all have different tastes. The only one I've heard of is Tom Petty. I have no idea who the other people are.

Vicki Cline | 76 comments I love the Catherine LeVendeur series by Sharan Newman. Catherine is a young Catholic woman whose family converted from Judaism, and the first book in the series involves the famous Abelard and Heloise.

Death Comes As Epiphany A Catherine LeVendeur Mystery by Sharan Newman The Devil's Door Number 2 in series (Catherine LeVendeur Mysteries) by Sharan Newman (several others)

I don't think they have, Ace, and the series does look interesting.

That is such a true saying! I see this all the time. People who live their life like they died in their late 20's and are just going through the motions for the rest of it.

But now I'm getting us wildly off topic.

Had to look these up, because the Poldark name was so familiar.... yep, read several of these when I was in high school, in the early 60's... funny.... <><

Ha! Carlos.... had an opportunity to see The Drifters this past weekend, and it was wonderful... amazingly enough I could remember all the words to all the songs they sang... and while they were not "The Original Drifters" they did a great job... a couple of them were my age and older, but at least one of them was the son (or more likely grandson) of one of the older members.... still put on a great show, and even better, spent time letting people take pictures and talking to those who hung out in the lobby after the show. They were just so very nice... and doesn't that make everything even more worth it?

@Ace & @Simona... I'm old enough that you two were born the year I started my senior year in high school... so yea... some of this Ancient History we read, was in the headlines when I was in school.... LOL <><

Ancient times indeed with The Drifters. Sorry Margaret. Last line I write on the subject. I am currently on book 7 from Steven Saylor "Roma sub Rosa" and after this series (5 more books to go) I pretend to pursue The "Flavia Albia" series from Lindsay Davis. Is It any good?

I couldn't get into the Flavia Albia series. I didn't feel the books were as good as the parent Falco ones.

My opinion: Flavia Alba was so-so.

Carlos (steelyhead) | 131 comments Well, I think I'll go instead to the "Warrior of Rome" series by Sidebottom instead. Thanks.

I MIGHT try that one now that I've read his Throne of the Caesars series so far. In #3 we are introduced to Ballista, who's important to that story--and supposedly, history. I still don't see why Sidebottom doesn't keep his "barbarian" name, Dernhelm, along with the Marcus Clodius, instead of Ballista.

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments Another medieval mystery series that I like - in fact I read them almost back to back is Jeri Westerson's Crispin Guest series. Set in the reign of Richard II, John of Gaunt, Henry Bolingbroke and Richard himself show up as supporting characters

Bill | 12 comments I found Jack Whyte's Camulod series to be very good over the first handful of titles (found he lost a lot of steam later on), and it's a great dovetail between Rome and Arthurian Britain.

Start with The Skystone (Camulod Chronicles, #1) by Jack Whyte

The characters develop nicely through the series, and Whyte presents what I've found to be the most plausible origin of the Arthurian canon.
