an American family experiencing some kind of emission of unknown chemical into the air. The whole story is the Farther thinking about chemical being toxic, his possible death etc.
Genre: cyberpunk (possible), anti-utopia

White Noise by Don DeLillo fits some of it, it's from the father's pov, there's a chemical spill that causes an evacuation. Fear of death runs throughout the novel, there's a drug that's supposed to conquer people's fear of death.
