It was sad to learn about Agrippa's daughter and how everyone thought she was the prophecy but she just died. What if she was the prophecy? I think maybe she was and Agrippa is so eager to defeat the Ancients, he's believing what he wants to believe. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I'm not very impressed by this one yet. The writing feels super clunky, and we have virtually no information about anything. The protagonist is kind of irritating, even after the sorcerer telling her that Rook could get hurt in London, she insists upon him coming, without even asking him. It also feels a bit to "chosen one" ish, with the prophecy and all. Hopefully this improves for me (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ It did pick up it's pace, but I still didn't find it great. I find it somewhat inexcusable in a book that's about magic, so much is unclear. Witches, sorcerers, and magicians are all accepted as about the same thing today, so it would've been nice to get some explanations. The one bit that we get about sorcerer vs. magician is completely devalued by Henrietta being able to use a stave and elemental power.

I definitely ship her with Blackwood. I have to admit, I was hoping Rook was dead for good. He never had much of a personality, and I'm so tired of the love triangle with the old childhood friend, because the mc never actually ends up with them. I simply can't accept Magnus, I don't care that he was drunk, the way he treated her was unacceptable.

I really didn't like the way women were portrayed in this. Sure, we have a female mc, but even she worries about not being good enough because of her gender. It would've been one thing if she defied their idea of the female stereotype, but I felt that she conformed to it a bit too easily. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Yeah the three types seem pretty similar to each other and the fact that there can be mixes between them like Henrietta kind of negates the point.

Same! I totally thought he had died and I was completely fine with that. I really wanted to like Magnus but I just can't. He is still trying to be with her for some reason.

Sorry, I kept meaning to reply but getting sidetracked. I don't think I'll be reading the next book, or at least not anytime soon. I found this one to be an average fantasy, so not on my priority list.

Yeah I wasn't sure if I would be reading the next book at first but I also decided not to read the next one because there are other books I would rather be reading.
