Thanks for posting this Nathan! (even if it has been quite a while)I got a copy through my library, and really enjoyed it.

Nicely done. I've got this and two more from Turkey ;; then hopefully find a few more BURIED nuggets there. Fingers crossed.
He has two more books in english and i can vouch for them both, especially for the garden of the departed cats.

But now I'm not sure, and I don't think I have any visibility into what requests I have pending...
A Long Day's Evening, the only one available at the library, was interesting, if a bit of an uphill trudge for me at times. But Night, now Night has me completely riveted. Need to hunt down Death in Troy and Garden of Departed Cats now.A Turkish friend, upon seeing that I was reading it, declared Night her favorite novel, and biggest personal influence (she's a published author in Turkey, though untranslated sadly).
That's certainly high praise. Night prompted me to travel further into Turkish lit, but I fear I have made an initial wrong turn with my current read, The Time Regulation Institute, which has been a bit of a slog. Now Goodreads keeps recommending Turkish books to me, many of which look interesting, though sadly none of which are available in English.

Here's a NYT review of Night ::
