“Hi daddy.” He went over to hug him.

He smiled and hugged him lightly, “how was school?” He asked him.
“I haven’t gone to school yet daddy.” He laugged
“Oh, how was nursery?” He corrected, smiling when he laughed.
Natalia came down. “Hon, it’s not yet eight. I’m about to take them to school...” she trailed off.
Elian looked up at her and smiled, “oh, okay. Do you want me to come with you?” He asked.
“I thought you had to go to work.” She said.Amelia came down dressed in her high school uniform. She was in ninth grade.
“Oh yeah, okay,” he nodded and then looked at Amelia. He smiled at her, too. “And who’s this pretty little lady?” He asked.
Amelia blushed but grabbed an apple from the counter. “Morning.”
“Good morning,” he smiled happily in response.
“Will you pick me up today?” She asked
“Okay, then I will,” he said. “Alex, too, if you want,” he said to his son:
“I have to get groceries today so if you could, that’d be great.” Natalia said.
He nodded, “of course,” he smiled. “I’ll get off work early and pick them up.”
He stood up and stretched, “i’m going to go to work,” he smiled at them.
He grabbed his sketchbook and kissed her cheek before he left.
“Bye.” She said softly under her breath.
He walked out of the house and towards where he was supposed to go for work.
“Okay kids grab your bags.” Natalia grabbed her keys.
He got on the wrong bus and drew for a while, not realizing where he was going.
Elian got off at a bus stop so he could sit on a bench, work already forgotten.
She went back home and cleaned up the house.
A few hours later, he wanted to go home but couldn’t remember how. He picked up his phone after realizing he had one, then he called the number saved as ‘Emergency number’, which was Natalia’s. He’d saved it like that after he got lost once and didn’t know who to call, since at the time, he couldn’t remember who she was, much like now.
Natalia picked up after the second ring. “Hello?”
“Um,” he said, “I find that I’m a little lost. This number was on my phone as an emergency number. I suppose this is a little bit of an emergency,” he said in response.
“Where are you?” She frowned. “You didn’t make it to work?”
“No, I guess not,” he responded. “I was drawing on a bench,” he explained.
She sighed. “I’ll call James from the shop and have him meet you,” She said. “Did you not take your meds last night? Or this morning?”
“I always take my meds,” he said sincerely.
“Then why have you forgotten where you are?” She asked
“I don’t know,” he responded truthfully. “Do you know where I am?” He questioned.
“What’s around you?” She asked, already grabbing her keys.
“There’s a school, and a bus stop,” he said. “And benches.”
“Okay I’ll be there in a minute. DONT move.” She said.
“Okay,” he responded with a sigh and put his phone on speaker as he set it down so he can draw. He went back to it.
She went into her car and drove to where he was.
Elian drew quietly in his notebook until a car pulled up in front of him.
She honked and rolled down the window.
He looked up, looking surprised. “Hello,” he said and went back to drawing.
