"What?" he wondered, not sure he had heard her right.

"Why?" he questioned.
“For learning how to swim and being a coward about it.” She said
“He’s always watching me.” She said. “Always there, in the back of my mind.” She touched her head.
He didn't quite understand what she meant but he wanted to, so he asked, "can you tell me more?"
“You know how some people talk about voices in their head??” She asked
"Yeah," he nodded, moving onto his side and propping up onto his arm.
“It’s like that. He whispers to me. Judges me.” She said
"Don't listen to him," he said, "listen to me, I can do some punishing, too." He joked, hoping it would cheer her up a little.
She raised a brow. “I’d like to see you try.”
"Just wait until we go to bed tonight," he teased.
“I have nothing to be punished for by you.” She snickered
"True, doesn't mean I can't make up an excuse to spank you as punishment," he teased.
He leaned over and kissed her lips, "wait till bed," he smirked.
“Okay:” She murmured with a small smile again his lips
She leaned back on her hands and crossed her ankles.
He crossed his hands under his head and stared at her.
“You’re burning a hole in my face.” She laughed
He chuckled, "what can I say? You're beautiful."
“I was born to be beautiful.” She winked
He smiled lightly because he knew she meant it in a literal sense.
She ran a hand through her hair and laughed.
He reached down and gently took her hand in his.
He smiled back and kept one hand under his head.
She laid down on her back and rolled over, putting an arm across his chest.
He smiled and gently kissed her cheek.
He stared at her face for a while before he got a little sleepy.
“You’ll burn if you fall asleep.” She smirked
"That's why I'm trying really hard not to," he chuckled softly.
He smiled back at her and sat up, "I'm going to go swim some more, coming?" He asked her.
“Yeah I’ll come but I’m not going too deep.” She said
She stood and wiped sand from her bottom.
He waited for her before saying, "race you there."
She hesitated for a second. “Omg I almost used my demon speed.” She laughed
He raised his eyebrows, "That's cheating!"
“That’s why I said I almost did.” She laughed
He laughed and then took off at a run.
She jogged behind him, not wanting to accidentally use her speed.
He gradually slowed down as they neared the water.
She jumped onto his back with a giggle.
