He carefully hopped up on the counter next to her, silently.

He listened quietly, waiting for her to continue.
“I was born looking like any normal human baby. But while I was inside my mother, I fed off her blood some.” She admitted. “Not enough to kill her, but enough to weaken her deeply. She almost didn’t survive the birth.”
He quietly listened, leaning forward on his hands.
“She would breastfeed me for a few days until I was....hungry for blood.” She sighed. “She gave me some. Not a lot and not all at the same time, but gradually I was sucking her dry.”
“It is.” She looked over at him. “By my fifth birthday, She was dead.”
“You were a kid,” he said. “It’s not your fault.”
“That’s how I had to survive though.” She said. “It wasn’t fair to her. I killed her. I was greedy.”
"So? I still killed her. She knew I was killing her the whole time,"
“Then it’s not on you,” he said. “She knew what was happening.”
"She should have thrown me away. Killed me even." She hung her head.
“Anyone else would have.” She argued.
“But she’s not anyone else,” he said. “Everything happened and there’s nothing you can do,” he sighed.
“She’s probably disappointed in me.” She murmured.
“I repeat, you were five. It was either that or you die,” he said quietly.
“I’m not now.” She looked over at him. “Being five and being however old I am now doesn’t make a difference.”
He sighed, not knowing what to say to comfort her.
“You think I should be dead.” She said.
“I think monsters should be dead,” he corrected.
“You thought so a few weeks ago.” She argued.
“Why don’t you now? Why have I changed your perspective on demons?” She asked.
“Not on demons,” he said. “On you,” he said quietly.
“But I’m a demon.” She sighed in frustration. “One of the worse kinds.”
“You didn’t choose to be born,” he said. “I’ve done some pretty fucked up things myself.”
“Like what?” She leaned back against the mirror.
He thought for a while. “When I was younger, I had a... friend,” he said. “She was a demon,” he explained.
she raised an eyebrow. "Really? What kind?"
“The normal kind,” he said. “Nothing special.”
He sighed, “this happened after I dropped out of law school,” he explained. “Me and my brother were hunting this demon called Lilith. We’re trapped in a police station with a bunch of people and surrounded by a mob of demons in human bodies. We fought from the inside and she got in from the outside and somehow she got in, despite all the demon traps and everything.”
“My brother was wary, me and her hit it off immediately. She’d appear every time we called and every time we needed her,” he said. “After we got out and saved the people in the station, at some point, my brother disappeared so it was just me and her.” He said, “somehow she had started to convince me to take her blood, saying it would help me hunt and look for my brother.”
She blinked. “You didnt.” She gasped.
He laughed bitterly, “I did,” he said and then leaned back against the wall. “We’re more alike than you think,” he said simply.
“You can’t still have that demon blood in you though, no?” She asked worryingly.
“Nah,” he said. “It was 7 years ago,” he said. “But at the time, I had been drinking a lot of it, so if she used one of those dark magic rituals, she could’ve easily turned me into a demon. But she was biding her time, waiting for me to grow stronger.”
“They were building some kind of army,” he said, “for Azazel.”
He raised his eyebrows, “again?” He asked.
