He nodded. "You may go back to your seat; thank you." Natalia sighed softly and nodded. She got up and went back to her seat.
Elian smiled at her and took her hand gently.
She held his hand, taking a deep breath."Chelsea Graham to the stand please." The judge called.
Chelsea stood up, making her way to the stand.
Elian took her hand and rubbed it. He lifted her hand and gently pressed a kiss before lowering it, watching Chelsea.
Natalia smiled a little at him, still feeling a little shaky.Chelsea took a seat on the bench.
"You are Amelia's biological mother, yes?"
She nodded. "I am."
"And you lost any contact with her and custody." He said.
She nodded. "Yes."
That pissed Elian off but he stayed seated snd said nothingx
He went through the papers. "You've struggled with addiction as well; what were they and how long have you been sober?" he asked. "Um cocaine, meth, and laced marijuana" She said. "And I've been sober for about three months now." She admitted.

Elian's eyebrows raised when she said she was sober for 3 months. He didn't expect it. He glanced at Natalia.
((mine arent :( ))Natalia looked at him, furrowing her brows. Three months wasnt long ago.
He nodded. "And you have no interest in an attempt to get Amelia back for yourself?" He asked.
Chelsea thought for a moment. "I never wanted to be a mother." SHe admitted. "But i knew I had to try to be when I found out i was pregnant. I was relatively sober while carrying her, but i would lying if I said that it got high almost immediately after I gave birth to her."
"She didn't answer the fucking question," he whispered to Natalia, glaring lightly.
"So no, I don't have any interest in getting her back." She said, taking a deep breath. "I don't deserve her," Her voice broke a little. "I am a horrible parent but Elian is not. Before we were even serious I knew he would be an amazing father/" She sniffled. "The only reason why his addiction got out of hand was because of me," She said. "I didn't want to lose him and I thought that sharing my addiction with him would make him stay." She wiped under her eyes. "But the second he looked into Amelia's eyes when she was born, I knew I lost him."
Elian watched her. He didn't know she felt that way and so he was mote than a little shocked at her confession.
The judge listened, slowing nodding. "Thank you, Chelsea. You may take your seat."She nodded and wiped at her eyes again as she stood up and went back to her seat behind Elian,
Elian's gaze followed her until she was in the stands behind him and then he glanced at Natalia, wondering if she was thinking the same thing. Then he looked at Amelia, wondering if she understood anything.
Chelsea avoided looking at Elian. She stared down at her lap. "Elian," The judge motioned him up.
Natalia kisses his cheek. "You've got this@.
Elian kissed her cheek and then stood. He walked towards the stand and sat down where all the others had.
"How are you feeling this morning?" The judge asked.
The judge nodded. "So first id like you to explain what you take your medication for." He asked.
He cleared his throat, "I take medication for depression, anxiety and schizophrenia," he stated.
The judge looked at his medical records from his doctor. "How severe is your schizophrenia?" He asked.
"When was the last time you had an episode?" He asked.
Elian's eyebrows drew together and he glanced back at Natalia because he honestly wasn't sure. "Over 9 months ago, I believe," he said, recalling when he thought he had killed Max.
Natalia nodded in encouragement. That seemed about right. "Do you take your medication regularly and on time?"
"Yes, I have a reminder that goes off everyday and Natalia almost never forgets," Elian answered, playing with his hands nervously.
He nodded. "And your current occupation?"
"I own a tattoo shop," he answered. "And it's really successful, I have at least 5 bookings for me specifically every day," he explained. "But I don't take any on weekends and at any time after 7pm and before 10," he said. Though that was obvious, he couldn't help but mention it.
He nodded. "How many employees are you responsible for?"
"2," he said. "Brandon Lights and Kathleen Hills," Elian answered.
He nodded, looking the forms over. "And where do you currently live?"
"I live with Natalia in the apartment right above the tattoo shop but we're packing up to move into a small house in the neighbourhood behind it since our family is growing," he explained.
He nodded. "And when do you plan on moving?"
"Within the next two weeks. We were supposed to have moved last week but our landlord told us he just needed to sort our the air conditioning and the electricity and that there were some unexpected paperwork before he could officially sell the house to us," he said. "We were going to let Amelia stay with my Aunt Rebecca, if we gained custody over her, during the move just so she wouldn't have to feel the pressure of the move and everything."
He nodded, writing everything down. "Okay thank you Elian. Everyone can take a break while I come to a decision." He knocked his thing on the desk, dismissing everyonr.
Elian nodded but stayed seated even as everyone either left or started conversing, he just sat there for a bit.
"Elian." Natalia took his hand. "I'm so sorry." She sighed
Elian looked up at her, "why're you sorry?" He asked her.
"About being in this country illegally." She looked nervous. "I totally forgot; it was so long ago I-" she broke off, taking a deep breath.
He looked up at her and then got up and hugged her tightly, "I understand, Natalia. You don't have to apologize."
She hugged him back, crying softly. "But what if that's why they don't let us have her?" She sobbed. She was clearly emotional because of her pregnancy.
He chewed his bottom lip, "we can sort it out, if thats the reason." He said and rested his head against hers, "and I know your scared, but when today is over, whether we get her or not... We have to go get that sorted out. If it doesn't affect today, it'll affect us later," he said softly, mostly to get his head off the judge.
She nodded, sniffling."Elian?" Chelsea said softly from the door.
Elian looked up at Chelsea and paused a little, watching her before he said, "thank you."
She nodded. "I wasn't lying," she said
"I know," he said softly. "And really, thank you:"
