He waited a moment to pace a few times before he got back into the car.
She nodded and started driving towards the courthouse. "Our lawyer will be there." She told him.
He nodded and rubbed his hand up and down his thighs to wipe the sweat away.
A few minutes later she parked in the parking garage that was down the street from the courtroom.
He got down and looked at her before he got back into the car. "I can't do it, I want to go home," he said.
Natalia was already out of the car when he got back in. She sighed and went around to his side. She opened his door and leaned over. "Do you want Amelia or not?"
"Of course I do," he said. "But I'm going to fuck up and something is going to go wrong and I wont get her back and I need her back." He blinked back tears.
"Give me one reason why they would possibly say no to us." She said, taking his hand.
"I don't know, the system isn't perfect," he said.
"Elian, if you dont show up then you dont get her automatically" She said.
Elian looked at her, "at least I wouldn't have false hope and then lose her."
"Elian stop." She stood up. "Come on." She held out her hand.
Elian resisted for a moment and then got down and complied. "You're going to be there, right? You're not going to leave?"
"Of course im going to be there." she said. "Im going to be questioned just as much as you will be, if not more." She took his hand.
She laced their fingers together and walked out of the garage with him.
He held onto her hand tightly as he walked with her.
She crossed the street with him and walked down the street to the court house.
He looked left and right before he followed her to the other side of the street. He pursed his lips as he looked over the building.
the building came into view. Rebecca was waiting outside with her own lawyer, her husband, and Amelia. "Daddy!" Amelia waved at him.
"Hey." Rebecca smiled and approached with Amelia, holding her hand. "You're looking nice."
He shook it, "thank you, you do, too." He said, still jittery.
"Daddy look at my dress." Amelia twirled for him.
"You look beautiful, sweetie," he said and hugged her.
Amelia hugged him back with a wide smile. "Mr. Kendrick?" a man, his lawyer, said from behind them.
He held Amelia to his hip and looked at the lawyer, "hello, thats me," he nodded.
"Hi! I'm you're lawyer Eldan." He said.
"Ready?" He smiled."Yeah." Natalia took elians hand.
Elian just nodded instead of answering.x
"It's starting." Rebecca said. Everyone moved toward the entrance.
Elian hung back for a minute before following them.
They were escorted into the courtroom. Rebecca and her party had to sit on one side, and Elian's on the other.
Elian took a seat, hoping to be next to Natalia.
Natalia sat beside him, taking his hand. There was a jug of water before them and she poured them each a glass.
"Thanks," he said, jiggling his leg and waving to Amelia when she did.
Amelia was seated in her own seat beside Rebecca. She smiled at him, blushing.Chelsea walked in from the back. her heels clicked on the floor as she walked down the main isle. She took a seat on Elian's side.
Elian ignored her entirely, just watching Amelia. "If you ruin this for me somehow, I'm going to kill you," he said to her so that only she heard.
"Excuse you but I'm sitting on your damn side." Chelsea hissed to him.
Natalia sighed softly and squeezed his hand.
The judge came in and the cop by the large desk spoke. "Everyone rise for the arrival of Judge Kent."
Elian hesitated and then stood up, glancing at Natalia.
