I thought there was the whole idea of not to risk the life of one for the life of the many thing in most armies. I think Artegal (spelling is wrong probably) is the only character in this book I actually like! AND HE'S NOT EVEN A HUMAN (hide spoiler)]

Killing her dad was not needed either, it really didn't add anything to the story since her mom nor her hated the dragons for killing him, they accepted it happened, so what's the point.
