3.5 Stars! A perfect read for summer. Poolside read. It kept moving, was fast paced, I got drawn in, and dare I admit that by the last pages, I was moved to tears. For those of you have have read it, you can remember perhaps how so many of the lovely endings had that potentiality, but the first one that "got" me, and moved me to tears, was Melody - the youngest sibling, with her realization and growth by the end of the book.
Now this is not a high brow book, not a not to be missed. Just pure fun. I like contemporary fiction as a break from historical fiction, which immerses me and I love it. But I become transported. This feels like a poolside, vacation, summer read, and I actually loved it.
To share what is going on with me and books currently, its a few notes. I am halfway through 84, Charing Cross, my second biography memoir for the month. Next up is probably Phillipa Gregory's the Kings Curse, which I have out from the library. I reread all of her books in order, but this one and the three Sisters, were written after I had already finished that lengthy project. So I am going a bit backwards in time, but I don't like to miss a thing! Also out from the library from the Staff Recommends/Picks section is Medici's Daughter. Now the other two picks from that section, one was a surprise five star, the other a miserable two, so we will see. But here's the thing. Actually IN at the Library is Michelle Moran's newest book, Mata Hari's Last Dance. It was just released yesterday, so the library appears to be starting with me. I will be the first of us to read and review it, it looks like. Also Amy Snow is in transit, so you will hear from me soon on that front as well.
I have three lengthy lists for the upcoming PBT tag, so when it is revealed, I will share what my next reads are, and how they fit in. As I stated in my review of Grace, I am liking how spiritually my book reads are coming together. I consider this really neat and fun. Enjoy the summer, everyone- Blessings, Amy
