This book was written originally in French by Nobel Prize winner Patrick Modiano. It is the third book of his I've read. One was autobiographical, and I believe this one has some elements from his early life. Like the other books, the writing is atmospheric, creating a mood. I felt I was peering through a veil and listening to Piaf sing. Like the others, the main character wanders around Paris, Modiano's home town. I believe a main theme is memory, and how images are triggered by happenings, which bring more images over time so that, slowly, long-forgotten events unfold again. It's somewhat of a mystery; I liked it; 4 stars
