Azur | 10 comments I read this story in high school in Germany (but it was in English). The teacher had copied it, so I don't know what the original book looks like. The female narrator explains how she met "him" at a bar and followed him home. She spends the night there and the next morning he prepares breakfast for her. The last sentence reveals that the narrator is a stray cat.

Azur | 10 comments I read it 7 or 8 years ago, but I don't know if my teacher had been using this story for years. The story you mentioned is very similar, but not the same. If the publishing date is correct, it's also too new. Also there were no son or other people in the story, just the cat/narrator and "him".
I found it via the title you posted. It's "Just good friends" by Jeffrey Archer.

Glad you found your short story, Azur. By the way, it's available in the book A Twist in the Tale by Jeffrey Archer.
