J Just so I'm clear- you are proposing that we do at least three concurrent discussions (since Ghostly Echoes isn't immediately available). Wouldn't that be a bit confusing? Let's say PI #1 starts an MMR discussion, #2 starts Strawberry Swirl, and #3 Blue Moon. If some PIs want to read more than 1, how do they decide in which order? I can see some discussion threads remaining empty.
Just trying to clarify as I really don't understand what you mean.
Must be the heat.

Okay, looks like we might have a plan esp. since Ghostly isn't available yet. That gives us some time there.

I'm good with any MRR title so someone pick one. One picky request: if title is still available in hard copy, that'd be great. Still haven't e-book thing down and do so love my book books. Other than that, any of the titles will do. And I'll see about joining in on other titles as well. Now who wants to host what? We need three PI's for the three available titles. Any takers?

J Still don't understand your plan Tina!

We can start one discussion in a few days and keep running it like we usually do. A few days later 2nd. title is launched and yes, it can run alongside, same time as first. A few days later launch 3rd. title and run it as usual. We do two successfully, we can handle three. If not, as I said in post, just say so and we'll go down to a main title and a side read. But as we seem to be having a problem picking just one of each, this would solve that problem.

Okay, gang. Tell me what you want and we'll go with it but it is August and we need to pick title(s), get books and start discussion before we get too far into the month. I'll go along with whatever.

message 56: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments I like your idea Tina, as sometimes I can't get the book from the library as quickly as others can by buying or getting from there library. I love my little library, but they don't always carry the books I want and they have to get them from other libraries and they are at their mercy as well as I am on getting them in a timely matter.

Like for instance, I've got Blue Moon and several MRR's but Strawberry I had to order from my library and they don't carry it, and I have to wait until the library that does carry it and then it's if and when they choose to bring it to my library. So for that one I could be waiting a week or two before I can get it. So I would read one of the other books and then when Strawberry comes in I would read it and then join the discussion. Does that make sense?

Yes, it does Jill. Got another idea...how about we pick strawberry for main title (jump in any time) a MRR for side read and anyone who wants to read Blue Moon can do that later on. so we can launch strawberry and side read MRR at same time and wait with Blue MOON A FEW WEEKS OR MID MONTH.

Now to pick a MRR title. How about circular staircase? Or Yellow Room?

I do not have any of the title so it will take me a bit toget my reads.

Pardon typo thingies. On iPad...not as trusty as my computer.

message 58: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I put Strawberry on hold so I should get it soon. The Yellow Room sounds interesting. The library system has The Yellow Room and The Circular Staircase so I should be able to get either.

message 59: by Mark Pghfan (new)

Mark Pghfan | 1939 comments Mod
Either MRR is fine with me, but Yellow Room seems to be slightly in the lead. So that is my vote.

message 60: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments I have The Circular Staircase, library didn't have The Yellow Room, but they can get it from another so I'm going to wait for it as patiently as I can. Strawberry is in at the library so I'll go and pick it up today

J I have my copy of Strawberry so good to go whenever everyone else is.

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Thanks for being tie breaker of sorts, Pghfan. I'll go with Yellow Room. So how about we call it for Yellow Room! Anyone want to host it? I'll get online and poke 'round for a copy. Yeah, one small step for PI-kind!

Sounds good, J. Anyone up for hosting Strawberry?

J wrote: "I have my copy of Strawberry so good to go whenever everyone else is."

message 64: by J (new)

J IF no one else wants it, I will host Strawberry since I'm still on the fence about an MMR read (Believe it or not some of those stories give me nightmares) but I don't want to be seen as hogging the spotlight since I hosted in June.
I didn't realize Strawberry was one in a series. Some of the more amusing titles I came across were Town In A Cinnamon Toast, town In A Blueberry Jam, and Town in A Lobster Stew :D

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
We'll take it, J! Thanks. We're getting there!

message 66: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Awesome! I did read the BlueberryJam book a while ago. Those titles are quite amusing.

I have a bunch of MRR's on my Kindle but not this one. I see though, that it is on the shelves in my local library, so I should be able to scarf up a copy today. Since I just hosted in July, I will leave that duty to someone else.

Pghfan, is our selected MRR title not available anywhere in ebook or just not on free ebook sites? It figures, I just broke down and ordered a Kindle reader (the cheap one lol). I'll pay for an ecopy of MRR just so I don't have to get one of the really old copies for a big price.

When you activated your e-reader, did you have to enter your provider's wifi codes, number? It did say that it uses wifi to activate. Did you buy an adapter? I don't remember having to do any of this for my ipad.

Welcome to the new century, me, which started 16 years ago.

I'm going to be a little late for August as I still need to get reader, MRR, Strawberry and later Blue Moon. I think I can scarf up a few intro pages of Yellow Room and maybe Strawberry. I'll jump in ASA I can.

message 70: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Ok, I have Strawberry in transit and Yellow Room on hold. I should get both soon. I might have to skip out on Blue Moon due to time constraints since I have so many other books lined up to read.

message 71: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Yeah, esp. when August seems to be getting off to a little later start. We can see how things are going and if too busy, maybe we can pop Blue over into September.

message 72: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Oh boy...I just watched the Agatha Raisin trailer on Acorn. That is not how I pictured her at all. It looks like a good show altogether but I don't know that I really like that actress for Aggie. What happened to her small, bear like eyes? Her stocky build?

message 73: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments I just got The Yellow Room, going to get Strawberry Swirl as well. Can't believe that one is almost $8 for a Kindle edition.

J - it would be lovely if you would host Strawberry. I love how you do the introductions. I don't think you're hogging the spotlight at all since we will need 3 hosts this month.

I will wait to get Blue Moon as I also "splurged" and bought several other books tonight too.

Tina, I've had my Kindle for a long time. I purchased the version with internal 3G (as it was at the time) access, so I wouldn't have to hook to a computer to download things. I got a number of MRR books as part of a "Classic Mystery" collection, for free. Yellow Room was not included, though. It may be available by itself; I haven't checked. I got my book from our local library yesterday--it was right on the shelf! If no one agrees to host this book, I will cave in and do it.

Don't like it either, Nicole. Fans have been moaning and groaning over this adaptation during development but they went ahead with this actor anyway.

I can see casting a younger Agatha if they plan on doing many in the series but she should've looked like the points you've mentioned.

DVD is coming out in October (so it says). I might have to wait 'til then to see it for though Acorn gives a free month of viewing, I think it requires signing up for a subscription to AcornTV. Nothing I want to do at this time.

Thanks for the 411, Pghfan. I'll keep those points in mind as I setup and will likely learn more when I actually read instructions (however, lately devices have been leaving them out). Probably should've sprung for the adapter. We'll see.

Don't you love it when you go to library, bookstore looking for a specific title and viola, it's actually in stock. Love it when a plan comes together!

Thanks for offering to host. If it still holds, yes, we'll take your kind offer to do so. Appreciate it! Hopefully, I'll be able to do one of the next ones coming up.

J Calling all Strawberry Swirl readers!!

I noticed that this book might be a bit longer than we normally undertake....49 chapters with an epilogue and just under 300 pages.
I was wondering if since some of you might have another read going on, would you prefer we break up the chapters into 4 sections rather than our usual 3? Please let me know your preference and I will start the discussion in a day or two.

message 85: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments 4 sections is a good idea.

4 sections sounds good to me too. My book should be here soon.

message 87: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments 4 sections is fine by me also. I've already finished Strawberry Swirl (sorry, couldn't help it) so I will try very hard to not let loose any spoilers.

I haven't started Yellow Room yet though.

She did write a good mystery, Nicole. Like Christie, her cozies were with more mystery and suspense. Less on unnecessary details.
