Twelve-year-old Meggie learns that her father, who repairs and binds books for a living, can "read" fictional characters to life when one of those characters abducts them and tries to force him into service.

Characters from books literally leap off the page in this engrossing fantasy. Meggie has had her father to herself since her mother went away when she was young. Mo taught her to read when she was five, and the two share a mutual love of books. He can "read" characters out of books. When she was three, he read aloud from a book called Inkheart and released characters into the real world. At the same time, Meggie's mother disappeared into the story. This "story within a story" will delight not just fantasy fans, but all readers who like an exciting plot with larger-than-life characters.

The writing is hooking. Reminds me of Neil gaiman books :)

Been through a lot now! The past chapters can be summarised with one..., no two words: Broken Promises. Dustfinger makes a promise, promptly breaks it, and then Mo makes a promise and yes, he breaks it. Its a cycle :/ I feel for Maggie, who must have a serious case of PTSD by now. And Elinor's books!! I swear, I felt my heart skip a beat when she returned home to that ruined books !!

Chapter 1-6 (view spoiler)[Eleanor, sounds like a serious hoarder. I wonder if dustfinger is going to be working against them or with. Sounds like he has a different agenda. Maggie is very curious, I wish I could get into the library in Eleanors library. Ugh all those books! And why does Dustfinger want to know where the book is so badly? Chapter 7- 18 (view spoiler)[ At least Eleanor was trying to make Maggie feel a bit better. Where is the mother!!! I wonder if she is with Capricorn. WTH Who makes bindings from unborn calfs???? That is freaking weird. A secret message that actually makes a lot of sense. Eleanor actually was a lot more helpful than what she seems. Darkfinger is tricking them!!! DON”T GO WITH HIM!!!!
So Moe is able to make things that are in books come to life… usually non animated things. But Capricorn, Dustfinger, and buster came out alive. How freaking awesome would that be!!! Not for nothing, I would be like Capricorn… I want the money!! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 19-26 (view spoiler)[ Poor kid, Falid, was taking out of Treasure Island to come to this horrible place.
Oh boy, now she wants to make the characters come out of the books. Maybe she will be able to do it too. Oh jeez, Eleanor can’t drive worth a crap. Eleanor is now a G!!!! Don’t know why they didn’t just kill flat nose. I hope they don’t go to the authors home, or at least that they do not find the inkheart. Dustfinger is so set on getting himself back into that book and falid is his new apprentice... it is actually very cute. I don’t believe his promise!!! He is going to go get that book I know it!!! Poor Dustfinger finding out how he is supposed to die (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 27-33 (view spoiler)[ Oh no, poor Eleanor, her books all gone. That is actually one of the saddest parts for me. All those books just gone. What is the police supposed to do?
Maggie is being very brave with Buster and Flatnose. HA!!! Flatnose got marred by the cat.. how fitting..lol
Buster and flatnose, take Fanolio and Maggie since they can not figure out if they are telling the truth that Fanolio is the author. Dustfinger is still on the way to the Capricorn hideout. I hope he doesn’t just ditch Fahid ... Also I wonder if it is true, if they kill Fanolio will the characters die??? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 34-46 (view spoiler)[ Poor maggie... so they capture everyone and the first thing that you read out of the book is freaking tinkerbell!!! Really. Read out a big ass gun or sword.
This shadow Person/thing sounds freaking horrible. I hope it works that faniolo is able to right a story that will be able to get them all free of Capricorn. (hide spoiler)]
