Jessica Beck is one of the pen names for Tim Myers who writes several cozy series under different names. Here's his page on SYKM

Oops, I guess I was too anxious to start it. Well, I can add another book from this series to make up for it.

Well, that's interesting. I didn't know that, Nell, thanks.

Have you read Leslie Langtry's Bombay Family series or her Merry Wrath series? I recommend both. The Bombay family are a family of assassins and Merry Wrath is a former CIA field agent who is "retired" because she was outed and is now living under a new name. I find both series laugh out loud funny.

Gary Sundell | 794 comments Odd the time clock on GR must not be Eastern US time. I actually started reading it after midnight local time. Anyway, I am down to the last 3 chapters of Guidebook to Murder (A Tourist Trap Mystery #1) by Lynn Cahoon Guidebook to Murder by Lynn Cahoon. I will finish reading it this afternoon/evening.

message 110: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Finished the first of my serial reads yesterday.

On What Grounds (Coffeehouse Mystery, #1) by Cleo Coyle

I didn't love it (Does every description have to include some coffee-inspired comparison? I get that coffee is your world, but come on now), but I did like it enough to want to read more in the series.

message 111: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 794 comments Finished Guidebook to Murder (A Tourist Trap Mystery #1) by Lynn Cahoon Now looking forward to book two. I think I'll slide another book in before I return to the further adventures of Jill and the residents of South Cove.

I felt the same way, Mia. I read the first and haven't yet gotten around to picking up the 2nd in the series. Since I'm not a coffee-lover myself, it was even less attractive. But I will continue with the series one of these days. Hmm, maybe I should add it to my list for future serial reader months.

Louise Finished Kelly's Koffee Shop (A Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery, #1) by Dianne Harman not overly enamoured, it seemed a little surreal!

Louise, this series was for my July serial challenge. I have the same sentiments as you. After I read the second book, I am still sitting on the fence as to whether I want to continue with the series or not. Luckily, these are very short cozies.

Julesy | 409 comments I finished my first book for this month's serial challenge, Killer Honeymoon Killer Honeymoon (A Savannah Reid Mystery, #18) by G.A. McKevett . I can see why this is continues to be one of my favorite series despite this being the 18th book in the series.

Rachel Anne (racheldespins) I finished my 1st book for this month, Through the Grinder, which was great! I especially loved the main character.

message 119: by Anna Catharina (new)

Anna Catharina Finished my first book Meow If It's Murder (Nick and Nora Mysteries, #1) by T.C. LoTempio Meow If It's Murder and I love it! A great quick and entertaining read and in some parts scary :) And the cat Nick is for me one of the greatest crime cat in the cozy mystery world. Looking forward to read book 2!

Gary Sundell | 794 comments I'll be getting to the second book in The Tourist Trap series before the weekend is out. I'm currently reading Mayhem in High Heels as part of a challenge in another group. Thank goodness I also have books 3 and 4 in The Tourist Trap series on my Nook.

You're welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed them!

Helen (helennn) | 1020 comments I've finished my first book, Murder of a Creped Suzette, by Denise Swanson, and started my second. Still love the Scumble River series, especially the glimpses into the work of an American school psychologist, as I do a similar job in Australia.

message 126: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Finally finished the second book in my challenge yesterday. I decided to not read them in order, instead reading the first book and most recent book in the series.
On What Grounds (Coffeehouse Mystery, #1) by Cleo Coyle Dead to the Last Drop (Coffeehouse Mystery, #15) by Cleo Coyle

I'm kind of torn on the Coffeehouse Mystery Series. There's nothing particularly wrong with the stories and they even seem better written than other cozies I've read, but it was still hard for me to get into them. Not sure if I'll continue reading them.

I totally understand where you're coming from, Mia. I read a couple of the books in this Coffeehouse series because another mystery group I'm in reads this series. Plus I love coffee!! But I just couldn't get into the character nor the mysteries. I know others love this series. It's just a matter of choice and my choice was not to continue and focus on other series I know I love.

A lot happens with the characters between book 1 and book 15. That's quite a jump. Part of your response may be the lack of continuity.

To get involved in White House shenanigans is certainly quite a leap from where I last saw the protagonist, but I'm not sure that's why I feel this way. I remember feeling similarly unenthused after finishing the first book, which arguably should be the best one since that's the one that's supposed to hook new readers.

I might return to this series in the future, but for right now, I have enough in my TBR pile.

Christopher Hunter (goodreadscomchrishunter) | 20 comments I plan on finishing The Death Planner by the end of the month. It is pretty interesting. It's like "Ghost Whisperer" meets "Antiques Roadshow".

Helen (helennn) | 1020 comments Finished my second book, Murder of the Cat's Meow, by Denise Swanson, over the weekend. I continue to enjoy this series, and have two more waiting to be read.
However, I'm taking a break and reading something different before next month's challenge starts.

message 132: by Anna Catharina (last edited Aug 22, 2016 10:29PM) (new)

Anna Catharina It took a while but yesterday I finished my second August book, Claws for Alarm Claws for Alarm (Nick and Nora Mysteries, #2) by T.C. LoTempio .
I found the murder case better than the book before, but the main character drives me crazy. She acts childish and I am extremly annoyed! So I give only 4 instead of 5 stars.
Hope it will be better in the third book (will be published at December).

I remember now why I hopscotched through the series and read several years ago. I hope to fill in the blanks with future challenges.
