My novel Snapshot is on Kindle countdown at 99 cents for another 9 hours, so now could be the time to check out a new author and very different science fiction universe.
Snapshot is sort of cross between Alternate History and space opera. The modern US finds itself cut off from the rest of the world but with a set of new frontiers. You can now hop in an airplane and fly to alternate realities where dinosaurs still live or Indians still control North America or Nazis control Europe or the Soviet Union still exists. More modern societies explore, colonize and exploit less developed ones.
More troubling, we meet a fun-house-mirror copy of the US, isolated in this new universe since the Korean war. No Beatles. No Vietnam War. No Internet. No cell phones. No personal computers. Far slower social change, though there has been progress on Civil Rights and the role of women. Total disbelief at the thought of a black president named Barack Obama (or an ex-President Reagan).
