I liked this one a lot too, Kelly. We should read Dark Places together . . .or have you read it already?

Well, let's see if next month's tag is "dark", and if it is, I vote we go for it!

If dark is the tag this one definitely fits and is my favorite of all three of Gillian Flynn's books.
I liked Dark Places and Sharp Objects better than Gone Girl. I liked this one best. Creepy and definitely a page turner!
If dark is the tag for next month this is very likely to be a choice for me. I enjoyed Gone Girl and Dark Places so am looking forward to reading this one.

I just picked up Dark Places free at the thrift store today. I didn't like Gone Girl so I hope I like this one better.

The story is told through Camille. Despite her flaws the reader grows to like her somewhat. Many of the other characters are not likable, with he exception of some members of the families of the murdered girls and Richard who is assisting the local police department.
Camille's mother does not have any love for her daughters. Her much younger half sister, Amma, is mean. Amma is too grown up sometimes then is childish at others depending on who is around. Camille cannot really relate to her old friends or her stepfather who appears as a weak character. She struggles with personal issues and with reporting the murder stories. She has never properly dealt with the long ago death of her sick sister, Marian, when she was a child which has effects on her when she is back in Windy City. Also the police are not sharing the details of the investigation with her. Not wanting to disappoint the paper she works for, she tries to come up with information to write something for her assignments but has a difficult time.
The book was hard to put down even though most of the excitement is saved for the end. Gillian Flynn did not disappoint me.
