I'm finished and will put my review up today.

I've been ready and raring to go for Pippa's backstory from the moment I saw there was one on Amazon. Seeing as how I'm still really new to this series, it was only a matter of time until I was able to get to it. Finally, an opportunity presented itself and I grabbed it. I grabbed it HARD.
OLD BLOOD is Pippa's (the Creepy Clown Lady from Experiement in Terror 1-5) backstory - how she came to see ghosts, her relationship with her daughter that would eventually (spoilering here because if you want to read the series this is a BIG DEAL) (view spoiler), and her getting committed. It's not a long, drawn out novel but instead is an excellent picture of what I wanted to see out of this novella.
5 stars for life, because always Pippa. <3

So at some point I shelved this as read and gave it 3 stars. But I had no memory of it whatsoever. I think that I must not have read it because I don't think I'd ever give an Ilona Andrews book only 3 stars. I've only put on reading this series because it's long and I was reading another of hers. I liked this a lot. I would have liked it better if it wasn't in 1st person. But I liked the magic community that had been set up. Loved Curran.

I will read The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, Fairyland #1...however I am pretty sure we will have a winner this week so I'm not in a big hurry to read it. I will probably start on Monday or Tuesday (it's only a 7 hour audiobook).
From what I can tell, the only team to cross 100 so far tried to do with a free pass which is not allowed. So it may go another week. Not sure what I'm going to read yet. I'll peruse my options later.
Another team passed 100. I will probably read my book anyway just in case. Not that I've picked one yet.
While I think this game is probably over, I'll be reading something anyway. This one's holding my IPOD hostage because it expired yesterday and it's next the series for me and on the shelf:

Tool Kit Clues by Belle Knudson

This one really got me excited for all the underlying causes in the series. Everything ramped up more and more until this book and I couldn't have been happier with it. I've already read a couple more past this at the point of this post, but I'm really excited to see how this series turns out!

How it fits: 1st in series
I really enjoyed this one. While it did feel a bit scripted (to be expected with Harris's novels), parts of it did surprise me. I enjoyed Harper's character because she felt really real to me. She was flawed but definitely has her good qualities too, just like a real human being. I would have liked a bit more information about the relationship between her and her brother, it doesn't feel like the reason that they are so close is really explained thoroughly. Hopefully that is explored more in later books.

Well they got all their reviews in on time so that's that. We almost did it, a couple of better rolls and we could have one. Oh well. That's how the cookie crumbles or the dice rolls I should say. And hey, good job team, we never had to replace anyone or use our free pass.

Review: ★★★
In the 8th book about forensic archeologist Ruth Galloway, Ruth gets involved in a murder case involving one of her old friends. This was another good, but not great, mystery. After 8 books, I'm still not sure I really like any of the main characters. The things that draw me back to the series is definitely the setting and the occupation of Ruth.
