A16. My favorite book is Martin Eden by Jack London. The first time I read it, I was 17 years old. I already loved Jack London's writing style. But Martin Eden was a revelation. I love his fight to reach his goals, his struggle to show that he is as good (and even better) as these "so-educated" people. I love the fact that he is a self-taught man. I like his individualism and his generosity, I like his cleverness and his ingenuity. When I was 17, I felt really close to Martin and to Jack London. I was so impressed by this book that when I had to write an academic dissertation at the university, I didn't hesitate, I chose to write about Jack London and his social writings.

A18. advice to give to aspiring teachers? Never forget that you are working with human beings, not figures or machines! They are all different, their skills are different and their working and learning processes are different too. You MUST adapt your courses and activities, you MUST find solutions, help for those who need them.
Learn to know your students: they have so much to share, to tell. It can be really enriching!
But, at the beginning of the school year, the first course, you need to show that "you are the boss"! You must be strict. That's really important, they are young and if you show them on the frist day, you are cool and friendly, it can be really hard. I'm friendly but I have limits too, that's the message. I always explain to them that we are on a boat for a long trip. We are going to live the same experiences, so we need to help each others, we need to cooperate, we need to team up. But on each boat, there is a captain, and I am the captain of this boat!
Do you want to be a teacher? Ditsa?
