Tavern owner Jamie Knox is introduced and it's obvious he and Sebastian share the same father. What do you make of him? Do you believe he doesn't know their father's identity? Did he try to kill Sebastian?

Phrynne | 607 comments I don't know!!! But I can't wait to find out:)

This man is dangerous and not to be trusted. I think he knows a lot more than he's letting on. I don't think he meant to kill Sebastian because if he did, he would have. He's deadly.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I don't know whether jamie knows who his father actually is, but being the sharpshooter (and having Sebastian's eyes and hearing), he did not mean to kill him. Why he killed the Frenchman is open to a few interpretations, I think. Was it personal? Was he hired to do it?

Knox killed Arceneaux because he backed out of the plan to secretly leave London and knew about Knox's role in it and other smuggling ventures.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Couple of points about Knox:

1. He may or may not know who his and Sebastian's biological father is although I'm leaning toward the Welsh Captain. It fits with the Welsh groom and the author's note in book #1 that Sebastian's abilities run in Welsh families.

2. If I remember correctly, there is some doubt as to whether he killed Arceneaux. It is suggested that it could have been the Hussar, who was also a marksman.

3. The impression I got is that he is intrigued by Sebastian and I don't think he would have shot at him. This reinforced the idea that the Hussar killed Arceneaux.

Hmmm...good points. I'd forgotten about the Hussar.

I am so intrigued by Knox and his connection to Sebastian and his mother.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I also think it was the Hussar who killed Arceneaux, maybe because he feared Arceneaux would pose danger of discovery to the rest of the French POWs who were planning to escape.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7669 comments Mod
I'm being persuaded to that point of view, too.

So am I. And, it won't bother me if this drags out a bit.

It would also make more sense if Knox and Sebastian were to develop a relationship. That couldn't happen if Knox were the killer.

Angela | 155 comments I believed Knox doesn't know who his father is. It makes sense to me though that their father is Welsh. I remember that as well Lauren that their abilities run in Welsh families. I liked Knox and feel he's a great addition to the series. It creates more intrigue for who Sebastian's biological father is.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I wonder if this issue will come clear, eventually. This series has me hooked.

Phrynne | 607 comments And only one more day before we start the next one! I am hooked too:)

Joanna | 139 comments I don't think Knox knows who his father is. I believed him when he said he didn't kill women, children, or men in cold blood. I like him. I think he sees Sebastian as having the good end of the stick while he had to struggle to get to where he is. No doubt he's now keeping tabs on Sebastian.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7669 comments Mod
I like your assessment, Joanna. I'm also sure he's keeping up on Sebastian, too.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Joanna wrote: "I believed him when he said he didn't kill women, children, or men in cold blood."

He's got an edge and doesn't seem above breaking the law but he does seem to have a code of honor, of sorts.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I also like Knox. While he is a pirate of sorts, he also has a code that he lives by and is as honorable as Sebastian in his own way.
