ABANDONED. 90's computer game suspense book for kids

I read this amazing book when i was a kid about a group of children that stumble across a video game. It's an incredibly engaging and magical science fiction game that involves solving puzzles and seems like VR because they are immersed in it. They are so entranced by the game that they get sucked into it and can't stop playing - it consumes them. They later realise that parts of the game are manifesting in real life and are actually threatening their health. People start dying and they're genuinely terrified. They realise the only way to stop these things from happening is to go back into the game and finish it.

can ANYONE remember this book?

Also worth checking out 'Shinkei' - this was the third in a series that included 'Space Demons' and 'Skymaze' but seems closer to me to what you describe than the first two, and it stands alone enough that it may not have been obvious it was the third in a trilogy.
