I know there are more interesting books out there, although I just want some hefty motivation.

Niah | 1 comments as a high school book worm it is sometimes hard to find people who like books just like me. and this group offers me a safe place to meet great people and get great recommends on what to read next

message 54: by Cosmos (new)

Cosmos | 532 comments I joined because I wanted to be in a group with people who like books as much as I do. And to meet new people.

message 55: by Tess826 (new)

Tess826 | 14 comments I joined because I want to discover more books which people like, I want to hear other people's opinions on books, because I love books and I wanted to meet more people other than my friends in real life with whom I can discuss the books

message 56: by Cosmos (new)

Cosmos | 532 comments Hi, Tess!

message 57: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margaret76) I joined because I want to meet new people, and their uniqueness, love of books. I enjoy learning from others. And....reading has become my new favorite hobby.

message 58: by Cosmos (new)

Cosmos | 532 comments Hi, Margaret!

message 59: by Anny (new)

Anny (annyreads) | 18 comments Because I basically have no friends, and especially no friends who ever read a single book. I'm not judgy about it, everyone has their hobbies, but my hobby is to read and it's hard to never have someone to talk to about the things you experience when reading a good book..

message 60: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennifercarmela) Hi everyone. I've been on Goodreads for three years now and never really got into the group aspect of it. Many of my friends do not really care for reading and I was looking for a group to meet people with the same interests and just have some fun. After my first attempt at joining a group failed (pretty much the same people dominated the conversation and ignored other group members' contributions), I wanted to join groups where everyone felt welcome. This group seems to be a good place to start. =) Plus, the name of the group, Drop Everything And Read (DEAR), reminded me of my elementary school days when we participated in DEAR at least once a day - and it was my favorite part of the day!

message 61: by Daly (new)

Daly Ditto to the other commenters ;)

message 62: by Rainshadow (new)

Rainshadow (Rainshadow390) I just wanted to chat about books, I guess...

Nicoleta | 30 comments I joined this group because I want to talk about my favourite books and my ships ( * cough* ) with other people ( and because I ship strange matches =)))

message 66: by Marisa (new)

Marisa Parker This is my first Good Reads foray and group participation. I thought it was a cool name but also liked the variety of group discussions. Lots of books out there so keen to hear opinions - which there are many :)
I am also a debut author and searching to get a feel of the trends. If you fancy a true story set in WW2 in Northern Italy and a love story - see the book trailer on https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z8buF1K... or go to my website: www.marisaparkerauthor.com

message 67: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddiekikki) I've been on Goodreads for ages but never really participated in any groups or discussion, so I finally decided to start. I was browsing through groups, liked the name of this one and decided it looked like a good one to join!

message 68: by D L K (new)

D L K (ravenxgirl) I wanted to join a bookclub and so far, this is the best out of all the ones I found. I also want some sort of inspiration to keep reading and to find a buddy to read along with. I hope this will work out for me and by the looks of it, the books on here are what I mostly read

message 69: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Siganea | 21 comments Hey everybody!
I joined for all the reasons above (minus the ones of newly established authors). Plus, I love to re-evaluate my views not only on books but also on everything else... and I really do have problems with non-book.-loving people. Which makes me a bit lonely.

message 70: by martin eden (new)

Dana (anotetoshelf) I joined because I love nothing more than being amongst fellow bibliophiles!

message 78: by Eleanor (new)

Eleanor Merson | 4 comments Because most groups are quite genre-specific. Altough I do have favourite genres, I like to vary what I read sometimes too, and this seemed a good place to get recommendations.

message 82: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizaandbooks) I joined because I am a newbie at the reading world, I still don't read as fast as I would like to but I enjoy it though. I am also a writer who wants to become an author, I have a blog and when I finish a book I will spoiler free review it there. I just wanted to join this amazing looking group for reading advice, book recommendations and the challenges.. And of course making new friends

message 83: by Book (new)

Book Lover | 10 comments Because the name of this group is exactly me. And also most of my time is spent hunting for a good book rather than actually reading one so i hope here i get good recommendations.

message 84: by Tash (new)

Tash | 3 comments I joined because there's nobody at Uni who enjoys reading for fun. I also wanted to broaden my reading list/genre

message 85: by Derek (new)

Derek All the discussions in the other groups I was part of were boring and pointless.

message 90: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina The Book Lover I have been a member of GR for about 2 years now and I have been a member of several groups here, but most of them focus on either one specific genre or author, or are all about doing reading challenges.

I wanted a "general" book club where all genres are encouraged, and I liked the name of this group, hence why I joined.

message 91: by D20 (new)

D20 | 162 comments I was browsing for a group that wasn't just for one genre but leaned toward stuff I like and Girl on a Train jumped out at me from the front page of this group. A quick look at the discussions and shelves made me think this would be a good place for me.

message 100: by Elaine Mullane (new)

Elaine Mullane || Elaine and the Books (elainemullane) It was the name of the group that got me at first! I constantly have a really long To Read list but would be willing to move away from that to start a really good, recommended read!
