Do they have to appear on GR to count?
Or can it still work with links and a high enough word count?

It needs to appear on GR to count.

I wish! 💙💙💙
I had to restart the modem 5 times yesterday. I can't believe that everything went well when I started doing GR stuff last night.

It's the wires outside. They are OLD. When they "fix" it, it's always down the road. Who knows how long they have been here? My grandparents and great-grandparents bought this land in 1943. I'm assuming they had a phone back then because when Dad retired and we moved back here in 78, their phone was really old and heavy - probably made from metal, if I'm remembering correctly.

We can't get anything other than Verizon. We have to have a landline to get DSL. There is cable near us but they won't pay the price to run cable for one or two houses. We have T Mobile for cell phones but the home internet won't work. I don't know if we are in a dead zone because we can't get other options like Hughes Net either. Country life!

Thanks!

I usually go with what GR says. If you click on the book it usually says how many pages are there.

For a word search, I change the settings on my reader to % and use the % as the location, as the page number often won't make sense. And as Genevieve said, for the page count of the book, I use whatever GR says - -I usually just go with the default, unless the group has a different rule.

Kendra wrote: "For spell out challenges, can we use the author's actual name even if they write under a pen name? I assume not, but I thought I'd check in case I'm wrong."
Is the name listed on the book's main page? If so, I'd say yes.
I know Sawyer Bennett wrote under more than one name and they show both names on some of the book pages.

Kendra wrote: "It's T. Kingfisher a.k.a Ursula Vernon. She uses her real name for her YA stuff, and Kingfisher for her adult stuff. It's the first line in the bio. Does that count?"
It would only count if they were both listed on the book's main page.
Like this book - Ain't He Precious?
It lists Juliette Poe, Sawyer Bennett.

Do you have to read the books in order? I have previously read book #1 of a series and plan to read book #0.5 now. Does this count for the challenge? Thanks.

Yes, that book would count for any challenge in this group. We do not have a page minimum. Yes, you may use that book for the challenge you mentioned - it's probably from Clean It Out. :)

When it comes to the Location prompt, do we just name the place/setting without proof from the text?

Yes, the book needs to be set in that place. Not a mention in the book. Like this month the letter is G, I read a book set in Green Valley.

Belated as this is thanks for the support you guys were saying a month of so go. Helping run this group is a lot of fun.

Thanks Andrea. Much appreciated.

If the suggested book is later in a series, can I read book #1, or wherever I am in the series?
Example:
Round Up the Usual Peacocks was recommended It is book #31 of a series I've read none of.
Thanks for your help

Another thing: I'm about to start a book (La crepa e la luce), which is available only in Italian, so does it still count for your reading challenges or you only accept english books?

For dates and such, we use what is on Goodreads. Your books can be in any language. :)
