So happy to hear that. I also finished the alienist a couple of days back. It is absolutely brilliant. Thanks so much for the great choice.

Anu (notsoradha) | 441 comments I have finished one of the two recommended books, i.e., Trainspotting ; will start with Americanah in a few days. I shall link my review of the books as soon as I'm done with them. Thanks, Janhavi! I thoroughly enjoyed Trainspotting.

Cheers!

Wow! You finished already. Glad you liked Trainspotting. Absolutely brilliant book. Took me a long time to read that though. Looking forward to your review.

I think my August Pick it book is going to continue into Sept .. thought I had some me-time during the long weekend, and the week after.. but then Murphy strikes.

message 159: by Anu (new)

Anu (notsoradha) | 441 comments Murphy is a little bitch. I still have Americanah to go. I'm trying to review Trainspotting in phonetic Scots, as it's been written, so that's taking time. :P

Hey Sangeetha,

Glad to hear you enjoyed them, quite the connoisseur yours truly is (no this is not debatable). On your pick I am running a little behind schedule, 2/3rds of it is done and I am at a very interesting point right now, I find it very difficult to not give into the temptation of pulling an all nighter and finishing it. From what I have read till now I assure you the book is very interesting not a literary gem though but quite gripping nevertheless.

Edit: I finished reading it and can't really make up my mind if I liked it or not. I think I have outgrown these sort of thrillers, it did start off good but I don't think I am particularly crazy of how it progressed.

Hi Preena,
I finished the hidden oracle 2 days ago. It reminded me of the 90's animated series(one of my favourites) by disney, called Hercules. Thanks for choosing it.

I'm also done with Americanah (actually finished it in the nick of time, yesterday), but I've been so goshdarn busy, I'll take a few days to review it. Well, both this and Trainspotting . I binge-read Americanah. It was my first Adichie, and it was perfectly enjoyable. Again, good choice, Janhavi; thank you! :)

I apologize for having given up The Fallen Empire halfway through...
reason - perhaps I wasn't in the mindset for fantasy, though Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorites. I will surely complete it some day... and then diligently come here and boast :-)

One of the best yester-year thrillers. My kind of read totally. I found the movie too, or was it a TV movie (i don't remember)
