Homayanpour's father translated Milan Kundera's book "unbearable lightness of being" into Farsi and met Kundera in Paris. Homayanpour read the translation by her father when she was 11 years old. I guess an 11 year old female can grasp a lot about the human condition, but is not as experienced as adults. So I was wondering what kind of world Homayounpour was imagining when she read the book as a girl. Her current book did not make it clear to me whether her current thoughts about the book are old ones or new ones. I find it remarkable that an adult author can talk about her experience with a book that took place a long time ao. I foiund Kundera's book unpleasantly stuffed with trivial observations that embellish the rather thin plot. I found Homayanpour's book a good attempt at introspection. So my question here is: How much do you think Kundera's book matters for this book?
