I've heard of it but never tried it. I really like GR for the most part, just wish it wasn't so glitchy.

I have an account on Storygraph, but I don't like the interface. It's cheesy blog style. I have to dig to see my To Read, Read, etc tagged book lists. At least I can import GR to update Storygraph.
I just want some place that keeps track of everything I've read and offers me interesting stats on what I've read.On a different note, I wish that I could ski and listen to audiobooks successfully. Tried it and I nearly finished an entire book but didn't listen to a single word while actually skiing lol
I'm of the opposite opinion... unless they have a shift in opinion about the direction the site should go in, I feel like any changes they make only make it worse...
Their main focus is the app/mobile, and most changes they make only hurt me, as a primarily browser user... and have so many problems with the app/mobile, that I advocate for using Desktop Mode on mobile, anyway (there's a button at the bottom of any page that doesn't infinitely scroll, near the app buttons and Copyright 2022)

That's because whenever they make changes like you said, it just causes glitches and errors to the rest of it.. if they actually carried out what they were supposed to do properly it shouldn't do that should it... I think the whole site needs to be overhauled.I don't know why the app is the main focus because it's absolutely shit, you can't see anything in detail on it and seem to have limited capacity to do things. Like you, I do sign in through the browser if I want to check GR on my mobile, but just mainly use my laptop.
Potentially controversial question lol:What’s the best way to arrange your books in a bookshelf?
I recently started buying physical instead of ebooks to create a collection but can’t decide how I want to organize the few books I have. Right now it’s all a jumbled mess between various genres and book sizes and authors.
I think that really depends on the person!I arrange books by genre (for me that's SF/Fantasy, Contemporary fiction, classics, poetry/epics, and non-fiction) and then by author. Sometimes I have to get creative with space though.
I've seen other people arrange by size and color (not for me but it looks cool!)
I also arrange by genre and then author. Colour looks gorgeous in photos, but it would just be so impractical for many series where each book is a different colour. I'd never be able to find anything.
I also arrange by genre and then by author within each genre. The by color thing is cool looking, but I wouldn't be able to find anything that way.
Definitely by genre and then by author. Which reminds me, I need to buy more shelves. I have columns of books stacked knee high in my walk in closet.
By author and (usually) by height, so I can lay other books on the space between the top of the standing books and the top of the shelf.
Hmm I'm probably gonna need to rearrange my books based off genre and author in the future. Right now I don't have many physical books so if I started putting them in different shelves based on genre it would look emptier lol. Next week my local library is doing a used books sale :D
Bill - LoL I have a lot of books. Last count was over 2k for physical books. Slowed down on buying physical books since I've gotten into audiobooks and pandemic.
Grouped: NonFiction (Organized Subject/Author/Title) - Fiction
Grouped: Hardback/Large Paperback - Paperback
Fiction Grouped: Literature/Other Fiction - SF/F - Romance
Organized: Genre/Author/Series/Titles
Ebook/Audiobook Collections:
Almost same organizing as physical books.
NonFiction: Author - Title
Fiction: Fiction - Romance
Author - Series - Title
I'm also in the "genre shelves then arranged by author" camp. Those are then broken into sub-genres as appropriate.
I sort by language -> genre -> author generally, but also have some specialty display shelves like favorite recommendations for lending for guests to see. I’ve also tried separating out my high-priority TBR books, but I found I didn’t have trouble remembering or finding them, so keep them incorporated now.
My preferred is Author (last name) -> Titles (alphabetical order).Series, of course, would go in reading order. If I have multiple series from an author, the series would be placed in alphabetical order and then reading order.
For instance: Jim Butcher -> Codex Alera (books 1 - 6) -> Dresden Files (books 1 - ?)
I also try to keep all of my series books in the same format. So if I buy one electronically, then I buy the entire series that way. If I buy one in Hardcover, I buy the whole series that way, etc.
I'm not sure how to upload a picture directly on goodreads but here's a link to a picture of her:https://linksharing.samsungcloud.com/...
She's 7 weeks old and her face is smaller than a tennis ball!
Couldn't see the link since it expired, but yay for adorable puppies!! I've also been MIA from Goodreads this week because I got a new kitten! Not sure how to share a picture of him on Goodreads, though.
I know I’m doing a couple of BR’s with a lot of members, but don’t wait for me. I’ll catch up. I’ve got covid and it’s pretty bad.
I think I'm joining the Covid 2 party... got sick once before, 16-18 months ago...
Had a sore throat / cough & mild body aches/fever for the past day or 2... work has sent me home for safety... probably be out of work for a week, unless I fail a covid test (I'll call doctor later today when things open up)...
So far, I haven't felt as bad as the first time I had covid, but back then, there wasn't a vaccine yet... I haven't gotten a booster, tho... kept meaning to, but lost my vaccine card and kept putting it off...

I have managed to not catch it (yet) but my social life has more or less died since 2020 because of it.
On the plus side, i do have more time to read so not all is bad.
Hope everyone who is currently sick a speedy recovery

The joys of working retail... luckily, it only gets busy about 2hr/day, since I work 4am to 12:30pm... store opens at 8am, but doesn't get busy until 10am, since you need a more expensive membership to shop from 8-10am...
Still a bit like playing roulette with your health... half the customers don't wear masks... a fair chunk of coworkers are on health leaves... and with the holidays over, another chunk of coworkers are on vacation...
