There's money in ridiculous monster smut... from curious people like us...
People swear Chuck Tingle is the pseudonym of a legit author, considering the editing quality of the books compared to some monster smut out there...

Other than that, there seems to be a lot of programming changes happening and that's impacting the website in odd ways.
Goodreads got rid of the Feedback group last year, because they didn't like how it was an echoing chamber for all the changes users disliked (my opinion)... I participated in the group, and it usually devolved into hundreds/thousands of comments about what was wrong with the new thing, and an occasional moderator response about why they were going to do it anyway...
So they shut it down, and replaced it with the Unhelpful Area, where you can send a message to GR and they can say they know already...
Maybe I'm a little bitter...

Mine goes to the 2020 awards.
Not sure how the vote is going to go for fantasy considering The Burning God and Rhythm of War are on the list and haven't even been released yet.

Yeah, there are other prominent titles, like Barack Obama's A Promised Land, that won't be out for weeks yet. *sigh* Goodreads Choice Awards... the only ones that start voting before the books are even released. Profoundly messed up.

So that leaves me with Peace Talks, which wasn't even the best Dresden book of the year.

But, after I put Along the Razor's Edge in as my Fantasy write-in, it took me to 2019 results and I can't get back to 2020 no matter what I push.
So...fuck it

That got a few items to load. They still say from 2 days ago. I'll see if a couple hours waiting helps. Thanks for the tip :)

Yeah Iain, I can see your perspective. The unhelpful area is so annoying!

Iain, GR forum hasn't been "helpful" in years. Pretty much since Amazon took over. lol
As for the Choice Awards, it was sending me to 2019 and I stopped trying to click on it after a few attempts. I think it's a silly system because it is one of the few that allows unpublished books or books that have been already awarded & won the year before to show up again.
It's not like everyone on GR is an Advanced Review Copy reader. That is one way to read stuff before the publication date.
I still vote on the Awards because I like to plug in for the books I liked.

Truth!

I know, I've seen the news floating around. It's horrible, but I'm not surprised, since Disney's predatory business practices are well-known. Hopefully the public censure will put some pressure on them.

I have no idea what this calculation is based on but it's fun to see what it'll say.
According to that calculator, I could read my TBR (7200) in 12 years & 10 months. Technically, it's totally doable within my lifetime! Woo! =)

It's fun trying though!
It’s gotta be some sort of page length calculator, compared to average yearly reading... you’ve had some big years, so suddenly 7200 books is no big deal...

- TBR #
- How many books did you read last year?
- How old are you?
I'm going to guess that age has the least impact on the calculator.

For example, roughly for me: 1000 TBR / 125 books per year = 8 years exactly
However, it doesn't take into account how we constantly are all adding to our TBR. It really should be the net decrease.
So, 125 read a year, while adding 100 TBR books a year is a net decrease of 25, so... 40 years.
Or more likely: adding a gajblillion TBR every year, meaning... nevarr!!

Reading all 1215 books will take:
12 years and 1 months
You will finish your TBR pile on:
January 30, 2033
And you will be:
42
Like Melissa said though, this fails to take into account how I'm constantly adding to my TBR! 🙈 I'M DOOMED! 🤣
On my end of the spectrum, I only add unreleased books to my TBR usually, so it isn’t really an accurate TBR of things I’ll eventually read...

Reading all 3505 books will take:
20 years and 7 months
You will finish your TBR pile on:
July 31, 2041
And you will be:
49

Also, the Year in Books page will now go back as long as you've been on GR. It used to only show the year it started and after. I'm guessing.
So you can have a Year in Books summary page and the Reading Challenge page. That's handy.

I'm so tempted to ditch the book I'm reading now and start another one for 2021! :D
I had several unfinished books... worked through them over the past 48hrs... watching season 4 of Brooklyn 99 right now...
