Were you born between 1980 and 1997? Cuz that's the age of Millennial. If you were born 1998 or later you're Gen Z. Which is weird to me cuz my 6 year old is Gen Z.
I like the IDEA of all these newer board and card games more than I've actually gotten to play them... I played some in college... I joined a gaming group that met on Weekends my Freshman year, but fizzled out and never returned in later years...
I used to play the classics at home as a kid, or on the computer as I grew up... I played Risk the most... I can't remember how many times I won by stockpiling an Australian or South American army thanks to the country bonuses...

@iainI pretty much hate that crap since people have been saying the next generation is ruining society for god knows how long so I tend to ignore what people say there
Speaking of games I’ve been putting time in red dead redemption 2 which is an awesome game since I’ve more or lesser finished it I can’t get enough how amazing it is since you feel like a cowboy (even Joe Abercrombie loved it) and most of the conversations I’ve had with my mates are about red dead redemption 2

As spoken by old baby boomers who did in fact ruin everything making it that much harder for later generations to succeed.

You're the same generation as my son.... Damn I feel old.

Hell yeah. I mean, I'd still drop everything for an old timey game of Oregon Trail. Or FF VII.

Generations tend to be ~18-20yrs long, I think... I'm a millenial, I guess... I think Millenials used to be called Generation Y... thus the existence of Generation Z afterwards...
The common thing is to say millenials are killing XYZ, and the pushback is that millenials can't afford XYZ, because wages haven't grown nearly as much as the cost of living in the past couple decades...

I don't think I've played Oregon trail since my grade school years... When I get nostalgic, it's usually for an endless grinding game like Disgaea, because there are still things I never did in that game because it has so much extra content beyond the story mode... similar to why I like low-participation Incremental games I've talked about in the past... I like big numbers...
Another good example... I could spend hours playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, for the Gamecube, just breeding the perfect Chao while doing zone runs for records and collectibles (my memory is fuzzy, it's been 15ish years)

I don't have time for a long storied game. Now a days I just want something I can start and finish in one sitting.

Well... that's the thing... I don't tend to play storied games, either, because then I can't listen to books while I play them... that's the thing with games that have ever increasing numbers... they don't tend to have much story after awhile, they're just about mindlessly grinding to fight harder and harder monsters (or more difficult to hurt anyway... big number games tend to be about figuring out how to get stronger the easiest way possible, which tends to mean oneshotting everything, because anything less is a waste of time/efficiency)...

I used to all the time, but now that I'm more immersed in the book world, I feel guilty anytime I divert attention away from my endless TBR.

I love to reread as well. For years I would reread the same series over and over again. Joining goodreads and a few groups got me to break that cycle. I still like to revisit old friends, but like to meet new ones too.

Yea... especially as my voracious reading has led to slumps in recent years...
I sometimes overmention the fact I basically did 3 months of re-reads last year, after my worst slump... I re-read 30-40 books across a number of genres, before joining some new groups and getting recommendations in new genres got me out of it... and then this year, I've been sprinkling re-reads since February, with about 70 of my 331 read (and counting) being re-reads... I've found that I really like reading books I love with other people and seeing what they think of the books, so I've done a lot more re-reads than I originally expected to... then we all did that Kate Daniels binge in August leading up to the finale release...

I used to never reread books. There's so many books I haven't even read once! But lately I've been rereading more and more. If I'm in a reading slump there's nothing like an old favorite to get me excited about reading again.

OVER 7000 comments in 464 days... I'm comin' for you, Scott... I'm only 64 comments behind you, now... not quite my prediction of August that I made back in February, but still...
I pulled out the calculator, and I've averaged over 15 comments a day for the past 15 months...

All competitiveness aside, joining this group was one of the best things I did last year... really reinvigorated my reading...

Broke down and picked up some games from the Steam Autumn Sale that ends in an hour...
https://store.steampowered.com/app/43... -- little black and white, Where's Waldo type game I learned about in another reading group last year
https://store.steampowered.com/app/29... -- a highly praised tower defense game
https://store.steampowered.com/app/83... -- a casual modular-looking RTS
All under $5... I used to be a sucker for these sales, but I tend to be much more picky these days... finally broke down and bought some games off my wishlist, because I need some new low-intensity games to play while listening to books...

Those games look interesting its a shame I'm not a PC person however I've been obsessed with Spyro reignited trilogy and red dead redemption 2 and my mates have been talking about it for the last few weeks

I've heard a lot about RDR2... good things... Not so good things about Fallout 76 tho...
I've been primarily a PC gamer for the past decade or so... less mobile, but cheaper gaming... I can get by with a lot of free games, as evidenced by my talk of incrementals... I can also, on occasion emulate some nostalgia games from the 80s... I don't generally care to spend $60 for console games people like...
All these HD remastered nostalgia games have been catching my attention lately, tho... Spyro Reignited... Crash Bandicoot's N'Sane trilogy... etc... games that were popular back when I had the PS1/PS2 in the late 90s / early 2000s... my middle school and high school years...

But Lana gives birth to an inanimate object—and soon other women of Zion do, too—and the thin veil of normalcy Mira has thrown over her new world begins to fray. (c)
Another one had this in it:
unholy drugs (c) (opposed to... holy drugs?)

I honestly hope the first words of the film is congratulations it’s a box or something like that

The Sky is Yours is a very creative and well written book. This is actually the entire reason I gave this book one star. (c)

So I thought hmm that sounds interesting so I do the good thing and check his history on the screenwriting reddit and I managed to find his deleted post of his script (I assume the same one he sent the other one) and people were giving him some good feedback and he pretty much said he didn’t agree with it and get this he was putting himself on the pedestal saying his story was unique(not really) and he was a brilliant writer....
I then return to the original post and a few people commented saying it was difficult and he was still defensive and was saying the criticism is not the one he was looking for and how he was a brilliant writer (even though he had written a first draft which always has problems unless it’s this guy) and then he went on to say everyone on the subreddit is an idiot and he wonders why he gets downvoted 😂😂😂
Now I’m continuing to follow this conversation because I crave this type of stuff and it’s funny as hell
You wanna know something weird he wanted an A lister to read it and get her interested which will somehow get other people on the project just like that (because that’s how productions works)
(Also I read his script couldn’t get 10 pages in his 40 page script)

Has anyone gotten the paperwhite that just came out - nearly twice the price? I know its waterproof, twice the storage, newer processor, lighter etc). But worth buying new or.......grab this deal instead?

I bought the classic Kindle (the one before the Paperwhite, without integrated light) for around that price so... Depends on what you currently have, I guess.

Fun!! I've got my youngest home sick today, so we've pulled out Stratego and Battleships - two very retro games from my childhood (well, I played these as a child, but I think the actual games themselves were created in the 1930's and 1940's - waaaaay before I was born :-)
