Yes, me too! It was definitely a fascinating thing to see. I used our old binoculars to look at it a bit closer, it would have been cool to watch it through an actual telescope.

May I ask wether you like more to the south or to the north? I heared it was better observable in the south and a friend from Munich was able to see it an hour earlier, while we could only see clouds till 10:20pm...

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Usually I’m able to see the moon from my room very clearly but it was really cloudy and I couldn’t see the bloody thing

It’s must have been cool though

I'm from the south :)
I checked the sky at around 9:15pm for the first time, but the moon was still behind the trees, so I can't say if the eclipse was already visible. Next time I checked was about 10pm and it was visible then. Luckily the sky wasn't cloudy at all the whole evening :)

message 3059: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments Typical, isn't it - we have clear skies and baking hot weather for a few weeks, and then the night of the longest lunar eclipse, the storms move in! Couldn't see a damn thing last night thanks to clouds. Still, at least it feels cooler today!

Prepare yourself... the internet isn't forgiving... is there an r/filmmaking?... maybe a group like that will be more constructive in their criticism/responses...

message 3061: by Ahdam (new)

Anyone ever have to take the American Community Survey? (Or your country's equivalent?)

I got a letter in the mail a few days ago and had to take a 30 minute survey online through the Census Bureau website... it collected information about me, the building I live in, my bills, and my job and commute...

Government can't seem to leave me alone lately, between a second Jury summons and this survey... and I think I got an optional Nielson TV survey last year...

Margret | 3168 comments Mod
We have to (it’s “optional” but they harass the fuck out of you) do the census every year

message 3064: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35349 comments Mod
This wasn't optional... I read online you can get fined $5000 for not doing it... but that sounds like a time consuming process... since they don't know for sure someone lives at the address they send the things to... apparently, the survery has been going on since 2006, they just send it to several million houses/apartments every year...

It's supposed to help assess urban development and affordability, and road construction priorities, and other things... every question/section had Help buttons that explained the rationale, but the questions could be super detailed... I paused a couple times to dig out my birth certificate and bank statements to make sure my answers were accurate...

My mom worked for the census for 15 years. If people ignored the letters and emails, she was the one who had to go out and knock on doors and talk people into answering questions. That woman can sell ice to an Eskimo lol. I'd never be able to do that. Especially since a select percentage of the people who don't respond to those are batshit.

North East England, we sometimes get people stealing cables through the night but they're not usually stupid enough to go on the tracks during the day. There were two police officers at the station this morning, they seemed to be riding from station to station, probably hoping their presence would prevent any more morons delaying the trains.

message 3076: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I can definitely relate as a uni student who relies on trains although I don't think its as bad here although the train had to stop for about 10 minutes halfway through because some kids were running on the tracks

Strikes are horrible especially when the train you need to go on closes earlier than usual because of strikes

message 3079: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new)

Margret | 3168 comments Mod
We have some above ground service for our train system and every once in a while we get people who get hit by the train cause they were listening to their music too loud to hear it and didn’t bother to look and see if there was a goddamn train coming before they crossed. That or they’re drunk

idiffer | 765 comments Feel like I mentioned this somewhere, but my sclerosis got the better of me, so you'll just have to bear with me.
My coffee addiction reached an all-time high (some terrible wordplay for you). Now I go to my local coffeeshop 4-6 times a day (partly because this gives me smth to do).
70% of my money goes down this drain, especially considering I have to periodically buy coffee for my friend who is always broke (which historically has always been MY role). I'm afraid to check my debit card balance, seriously.
I tried almost every syrup they have + I discovered lattes with almond milk are cool, though even more expensive.
I discovered I prefer robusta over arabica, which isn't bitter enough for me (I ask the guy to pour me two shots of espresso in the latte instead of the usual one, to feel the kick).

In other news, sanderson has sort of won me over with final empire (which was okay), so I'm going to pick up way of kings again (though I hate multiple pov's). I've heard it's the most epic of epic fantasies. We'll see.

I'm glad you came to like Sanderson at last.

Why don't you buy a coffee machine and do it yourself? I have a nespresso machine and monin syrup collection. I sometimes make my own almond milk too. It tastes better when you do it yourself+ its cheaper.

I enjoy the walks, I get to listen to music + I get to chat with the baristas, one of which is a cute girl. Also, a good machine costs alot of money, which I'll have to give up all at once.

I had a few books from this russian edition of haruki murakami, but recently I bought almost the rest of the set, including the extremely rare Sheep chase and Dance, dance, dance. I'm missing 3 books (not on the picture), but I'll get the very rare and expensive one about jazz on monday.

9 books for 15 bucks, which is the cheapest you could ask for.

Doesn't it look nice? The books are in near mint condition btw. Some ppl seem to play soccer with their books as footballs, so I'm very happy.

Now, to find a buyer - it's hard cause there's alot of ppl selling murakami + this is the old, unfinished edition. The new edition has some new books in it. Though truthfully, I don't want to sell this gloooorious collection, it looks so badass on my shelf!

Thinking about it I’m not sure if we have raccoons here I’m pretty sure there an American thing I might be wrong though
