So Lightbringer and Shadow Campaigns are must-reads.

Do not say this..
I'm so very easily tempted to go spoiled..
Already found A Shadow in Summer and His Majesty's Dragon from my dear @Iain's 5star and fantasy lists :)

Thats the downside of it.
(+Melting the mount of owned-to-read TBR too)

So I was wondering as readers are your partners readers to as in do they enjoy reading books as much as you do or are they just not interested in reading at all?
I’m asking because my boss is making a documentary and I found out that most people in relationships are in relationships with people they don’t have in common with rather than the people they do which I fought could be an interesting angle for a story

You can't do with a non-reader. It lessens the time you spend together. Its like going out with a smoker.

- Wheel of the Infinite: a standalone with a very cool setting;
- Nice Dragons Finish Last: I haven't finished the series yet but so far, it's one of the best Urban Fantasy series I've ever read
- A Night in the Lonesome October: to read (following the one chapter/day structure) in October, preferably with some buddies that love to theorize. Just trying to identify the characters on the cover sparked very lively discussions back when I read it :)

My boyfriend doesn't read, some years ago as we lived in different cities and it took him 2-3 hours by train to visit me, he sometimes read but now it's very seldom that he sit down with a book. That doesn't mean that we can't spend time together, in Winter we often sit together in the livingroom in front of the fireplace and he does something else while I read. And in the evening we sometimes listen to audiobooks.
Also, I don't think that we need to have everything in common, I like to spend time on my own as well ;) He likes to spent time in the garage, working on his cars. I help him out if needs my help, but that's not a hobby I would like to have, so it's absolutely fine that way.

I'm single right now but I never had a partner that really liked reading. Just like Anni said, you can still spend time with your partner even if they're not reading. Sure, I'd appreciate a partner I can discuss books with, but so long as that person respects my love of reading, I'm fine :)
I actually think that having different hobbies is 'mandatory' for me in a relationship because I need a lot of 'me time'.

Also I found that a lot of people who are single tend to be very picky as if they don’t meet what they like then they don’t continue and from the interviews we have done I find it interesting that couples who are married or have stayed together don’t have much in common and I can totally see that
I think the chances of finding an equally book-loving partner are slim... it's hard to find friends/acquaintances that like reading... my coworkers hardly understand my love of books, never mind the extent of it...
That's what makes Goodreads so great...

My recommended priority ranking from your list:
1. Shadow of what was lost
2. Emperors Blades
3. Grey Bastards
4. Red sister
I haven't read the other two.... yet.

- The Blade Itself: a must-read IMO. The audiobook is especially good. I only read the trilogy so far, but the standalones are def in my TBR.

I loved First Law. I'd still read the trilogy before the stand alones.
The Way of Shadows was horrible, imo. I rarely give up on a book or series but will not be finishing that one.

My husband doesn't read. I don't know the last time he touched a book that wasn't a text book. But he has an hour and a half commute to work. I finally got him to listen to something Sanderson during his commute last year. He loved it so much that now he's finished everything written for Stormlight, Mistborn Era 1 & 2, Warbreaker, Elantris, Arcanum Unbounded, and he's now listening to The Expanse series. So there's hope for everyone :-)
Ahdam, my husband likes the same spec-fic stuff that I do, but he has only actually finished two books in the entire 6 years we've been together. Started a few though but gets sidetracked with netflix and gaming.
Similar tastes, different levels of priority? :)

My wife mostly reads stuff like Janet Evanovich for the most part.
She has read Twilight and I did get her to read Harry Potter years ago. Even though she loved both of these she swears she doesn't like fantasy. Additionally I made her promise to give GoT 6 episodes and now she's a huge fan. She's also like fantasy TV over years such as Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Lost, Once Upon a Time, Charmed and Heroes just to name a few she still swears she doesn't like fantasy or Sci-Fi.
While I know she would never like Malazan or some of my favorites I keep telling her she should check out all of the PNR series out there and I think she would like a lot of urban and YA such as the Reckoners.
It's a losing battle.

My husband reads, but he stopped reading for quite a few years because he got busy with other things, and doesn't have time to actually sit down with a book and read it. We started a fantasy book club last year for couples and he's been listening to audio books for that. It has ended up being something he looks forward to every month, and recently he has started listening to a few that are not for the book club as well.

My fiancee started reading recently which makes me super excited. I've been recommending books to him for years, but what finally did it was him going to the army and having a lot more of a structured schedule (with structured free time). He likes fantasy, but we don't read a lot of the same books because he only likes to read in Korean.

That's great! I love converting people to reading. I got a friend of mine really into it for a few years but for the last year she's just been re-reading things and watching Netflix. I need to get her back onto the wagon.

Re-reading is the way it starts out. :) You've just got to gush about a series she hasn't read enough times and then just drop the book in her lap.

I wasn't a fan before, but living in Korea has made me really dislike it (repetitive, overplayed, loud). I don't listen to a lot of music in the first place, though. It's not all bad, but it would not be what I would choose to listen to. Some of the ballads my fiancee sings at karaoke are good.

She's got a stack of my books at her house that I gave her when she was actively reading that have been sitting there for ages unread, it's driving me nuts. One is part of a series that she was loving too!

Noooooo!

I think if I steal her TV, latop, PC and tablet she'll have nothing to do but read. I might break in...

Haha good luck with that. If you disappear from the group suddenly, we'll know you've been arrested for burglary.

I have a key to her house... they'll never know it was me!

I'm pretty sure I have never been intimidated by a big book (maybe a big classic, yes, but not a big fantasy bok etc.). I guess it comes from reading a lot of fantasy where the books tend to be on the bigger side.
How do you guys feel about that?

Big Book Challenge
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

However, big series (10+ books)... Those scares me a little.
I don't consider a book big unless it's over 700 pages, I don't think... the really big ones approach 1000-1300 pages...

I think I’ve got enough evidence to continue with my script with confidence cheers guys 👍🏽👍🏽

So do I, I forgot to say that :)
I just often read or hear things online like "omg this book has more than 500 pages, it's so huge and I'm intimidated" which is a bit funny to me since 500 pages really isn't that long.
I also agree that big series are more intimidating than big books!

I used to be, but now so many of the books I read are over 600 pages that I just find that the norm. If I read a 300 page book I call it a mini.
It's funny how fast you can go from "I'm so behind" to "What am I going to read now?" when you keep bowing out of things you're not feeling at the moment...

hahahahaha
You are raising them right! ;)

That's so funny!
