I'm right next door in Illinois... most of those weather patterns hit me first... it's been up, down, up down, all winter...
I do laugh at people who don’t get winter to this level, but also about the fucked up spiders and snakes. It’s a benefit that creepy crawlies can’t survive here. To us a giant spider has the body the size of my finger tip
And you guys get to laugh about how my face hurts when I walk outside or my hand burns when I touch something metal outside.

We joke about our weather patterns here in the Midwest.
"Welcome to the midwest: Where the weather is made up and the seasons don't matter"

"Welco..."
That sounds about right.
That sounds like Who's Line Is It Anyway?... where everything is made up and the points don't matter...

I don't know where it came from originally, but I've seen it used multiple places. Its certainly accurate.

Nice! Audiobooks really are great.

While thinking about it my mind went to films like blade runner and Star Wars you know films that had sequels decades later and t got me thinking wouldn’t it be cool if we had some proper sequels to lord of the rings like official films not fan films as I think Tolkien wanted to try with one book but he quickly abandoned it and it would be cool to see a sequel to LOTR set after the events
I may be wrong but it seems the rights to the universe are kept really tight by Tolkien’s son and I know about his disapproval with the films so it’s a shame we won’t get any other films in middle earth aside from the trilogy and the hobbit series
Anyway those are my lame thoughts on this stuff while thinking about my essay 😂😂😂😂

I think you should check out The Never Hero... it's a Sci-fi trilogy about an seemingly ordinary boy who has to save the world from aliens... and he looks to books/movies and his friends to figure out how... I read it last summer and am waiting for the conclusion...

Congratulations! Hopefully everything goes well.

That's so exciting! How long does the process usually take until finalization?
Just an fyi the east coast storm left us without power the last 24 hours and counting. Of the towns touching ours probably ten percent have power. So I will be infrequently online until its back.
Stay safe Scott. Thinking of you and your family. We're been watching on the news and the storms have looked unreal.

Thanks. There's still some major side roads where trees on one side of the road are leaning all the way across to the other side only supported by trees or poles and wires on the other side. Driving under that is a bit unnerving. 36 hours and counting.
My oldest who's a drama queen keeps proclaiming she's sick of living like a pilgrim. The irony that she's posting her woes on instagram at a stunning rateare lost on her.

Thanks. 52 hours of no power and we are finally back up. Good thing because it is going back below freezing tonight. It will be nice to be back up over 55 degrees for the first time in a few days.

Glad to hear that C survived her pilgrimage, and by extension you did as well

UHHHH... I think my British aunt and uncle sent me a dirty birthday card...
It has Vader and a Stormtrooper grilling on the cover, and says "Who likes their sausages on the dark side?" and Vader is raising his hand...

Happy Women's Day! And happy birthday to my niece! She's turning 2 though so she's not on goodreads yet ;-)

And happy birthday to your little niece Diana. You have to turn her into an avid fantasy reader ;)

Do english speaking countries have a men's day?"
Apparently we do... I thought about asking the same thing, as a joke, so I googled it... it's November 19th... seems like a busy month for it...

Maybe I should just rant that my work computer is blocking my emojis then :-)

THAT'S why I was going to make the joke... because that's what happens every time...
I heard people were asking "When is White History Month?" in February...

Some I see, some I don't... I think you need to install an emoji alphabet or something to see all of them...
I see your frowny-face, then [01F644][01F926]
Doesn't help there are so many different emoji alphabets that look slightly different...

It's not a frowny. It's an eye roll. Like I said, it doesn't read well from the computer. I posted on my phone, but when opening back up on the computer it doesn't translate.

I see frown, then eye roll, then face-palm. Not what you were going for?

Oh right, forgot the order. It's a slanty face. Like :-/ but in emoji form.
It honestly is hard to tell on my screen:

I had to copy the image a bunch of times to make it big enough for Goodreads to upload it... and thats like 2x as big as it appears outside of that print screen...

Dunno how informed you are about russia, but men's day is february 23rd here. But any time someone says "happy blah blah", I get a funny feeling. Like, I'm not the type of man you celebrate, you know, lol?

Happy Women's Day to all women everywhere but xpecially the wonderful women of FBR. Womanhood is a powerful and beautiful shared experience, no? So much there is no need to explain or even put in words...

I have on;y been here five months but I feel I have met such wonderful people here. I love you ALL, especially how you are each strong and wise and kind + very generous-hearted womem + also such great company. I am learning a lot from each of you about how to be and I should hate to be away from you all + I like how there is all the time in the world to get to know you better.
Also hello to @Margret and @Niki's mums + all mums everywhere, of course but we know a little more of those two mothers' stories from here on Random Chatter so woot! for them + also @Ahdam's sisters...
Sorry this is late. I'm always asleep/away during all the chatter.
