Yeah we'd kill for 12°C right now!!
Ahh I thought you would have had some of this snow Anni. But then again, apparently its come straight from Russia! Love walking in the cold, except for the fingers and toes risk xD

Beautiful! I can't wait for it to be nice enough to go hiking again. Every weekend that it's been nice out it's rained. My backyard looks like a swamp right now. At least the birds have something to drink on their migration back north.

On the bright side, a day in the h..."
An unexpected reading day, oh what a shame. How ever will you cope?
Enjoy! :)

Be careful!

Stay safe and enjoy.
We've had a mild winter by our standards. Only a couple of real major snow storms and the worst only snowed about 8 inches (which is annoying, but ultimately not a huge deal for us) overnight. Everything else has been 2-5 inches at a time, which is inconvenient but not a big deal. Except for the people who magically forgot how to drive in the snow, as if we don't have the possibility of snow for 5 months out of the year here. *sigh*
I just figured out how to see every comment I've ever made in a group...

We've had a pretty harsh winter by our standards, even though my town has a reputation for snowing all year round because we're really high up. XD
It's not supposed to snow here when it's March tomorrow!! I'm over it like.

That was an old Lewis Black joke about things you overhear that just make your head explode trying to decipher them...

I wish I had a moose today, sick of being snowed in :(

Yesterday we were supposed to have the coldest day, but today feels even worse.
But the worst I think is in Schotland and Great Brittain. Normally this weekend it should get better.

Sorry its been so cold for you too, Saar. The wind is awful.

I think it might just be! I had a power cut today too, whole village was out. But luckily it was fixed after about an hour.

It could be. Snow on the beach... isn't that one of the signs that the seals are breaking and the Dark One is about to be released on the world once more? I think I read that somewhere...

Does that prophecy specify a Yorkshire beach? Cuz New Jersey beaches get snowed over every year ;-)

At first I thought you meant seals & sea lions...

No, no, I'd never hurt a poor seal! Seals are like adorable little merdogs!
I think maybe the End Times have already happened and we're living in the aftermath. It would explain a lot that's happened over the last 18 months or so.

I think you might be right. Guess I should start stockpiling those guns and canned goods before it's too late.

Do you guys not normally get that cold?
-10°C is about 14°F, which is not an unusual winter day for us where I'm from.
-20°C is -4°F, which while cold is also not a big deal. We had over a solid week of -5°F to -10°F (so about -20 to -24°C) earlier this winter and while we are all very cranky about it its not unheard temps for us.
I can imagine how miserable it must be if you guys aren't used to cold like that!
And I'm sure idiffer has more experience with even colder weather than I do...

We had -30F windchill this winter around New Years... -10F before windchill I think... for about 2 weeks between Christmas and Mid-January, with a short reprieve... around that time I think somewhere in Russia set a new record of -88F... the electric thermometers at banks and grocery stores maxed out at -75F in the story I heard...

It normally snows, we have disruption for a day, then it's gone for another year. A whole week of it these days is practically unprecedented. There should be lambs and daffodils outside now, not snow!!

I always think the people in Eastern and Northern Europe and Canada must laugh at us - a few inches of snow and we collapse. But we only have about one bad winter in seven here in the UK, so we don't have the infrastructure to deal with it.
There's generally a snow/ice rink of streets 2-3 blocks around my house when the weather is bad, before I get to the main streets that are heavily salted and plowed...

I know, I think the same! They probably do laugh at us! But like you say, we just don't have the infrastructure.
