I'm indeed no Nazi... And I don't wear Dirndl or Leather pants but I wouldn't say no to a beer sometimes ;) A friend from Canada told me he doesn't wear all check shirts and have no moose in the backyard... But everyone should have a moose in te backyard 😨😨😨

There are 10 million movies in IMDB database. I'm sure netflix has ... oh, 10k? Maybe 100k?

I'm not sure your pet bear will like you having a moose... He might get jealous

Haha! I'm hoping you don't have a bear and decided to just take the joke. I absolutely adore bears and can't abide any cruelty to them. #freethebears :D

Racial stereotypes are funny, until someone inevitably takes it too far. One might say the Nazi bit was too far, but luckily we all have a sense of humour 😂 😂 😂

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I didn’t know what a dirndl was at first and though of searching it and the pictures were....interesting.....I mean the designs were interesting such a simple design and to think people would wear such a fine piece of clothing a hundred years ago it must have been an interesting time.

For real though I’m assuming the dirndl and lederhosen aren’t really popular in your ends Anni

No, not at all... In the South of Germany there's the 'Oktoberfest' and for this special occasion people dress like this, but it's not a daily outfit ;)

I prefer illicit streaming websites... less annoying loading circles or commercials... or needing a dozen subscriptions, as every website has exclusive content and original series now... the whole point of switching to Netflix/etc was that it was cheaper than cable... I wonder how much longer that will be true...

Well, send me sauerkraut whenever you have the chance :) I am a huge fan and get made fun of my addiction

As a Canadian- I am of the civilized stereotypical breed, and my upbringing has been the subject of many a joke about being a redneck.

I do wear plaid, as often as possible. It’s what I’m known for. I think I have about 8 plaid shirts 😂 and that is an all time low for my inventory

I made a bad decision once... freaked a teenage girl out in World of Warcraft... a guildmate in a Ventrilo server...

I was trying to demonstrate the dangers of revealing a sliver of real info online... 4 google searches and you can be looking at their house on Google maps... or something to that extent... this was over a decade ago now...

I remember students bypassing these kinds of blocks on the school servers using the command line... just do an ipsearch of the website and then pull up the website by ip address... I just did a google search about it, tho, and it doesn't seem to be as successful of an option anymore, with HTTPS and the way most websites need to load so content from sub-websites that might still be blocked...

Some stereotypes are true though. Being Canadian, I actually had back bacon on my English muffin this morning while drinking tea sweetened with maple sugar while watching Olympic hockey... Cool, eh? Oh and I had to wear my touque while watching because my apartments windows aren't sealed properly so I get a -10 degree draft on my neck while on the couch...

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments For those missing context heres my speech in the correct thread

Yeah I love stereotypes too and I get to be part of two different types since I’m middle eastern I listen to Indian music, watch Bollywood all the time and wear shalwar Kameez every single day oh yeah we eat curry every day and spend most of our time on the toilet

Then there’s the British stereotype tea loving stiff upper lips and very posh everywhere we go since we all live in mansions have our own butlers and have no problems what so ever

I do like British stereotypes especially those that are tied towards different regions as our mutual Geordie can attest to

@idiffer I’m not sure what it’s like in Russia but I always get cookies of single Muslim dating and I’m like nah man I ain’t that desperate.....yet but for real I have a feeling some of the people there will be married off in a couple of years when the parents are fed up of them being single

So in-keeping with the stereotype convo....

When I first moved to the US for University some years ago I heard every stereotype, got asked the most ridiculous questions, and had many people attack me with their attempts at a Jamaican accent (I'm St. Lucian... I've only been to Jamaica once on vacation...). I thought I'd share a couple of my faves with you guys:

1. How did you find out about college? How did you apply? You have the internet/computers there?

2. What do your parents do? What kind of jobs do you have over there? Is your dad a fisherman?...

3. Do the windows of your house have glass in them? Because Every movie I see the windows are just open and don't have glass. (This was a personal fave)

message 1699: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Yeah I got a few questions asked about my religion when I first went to Uni which is weird because I thought it would be common knowledge but the beautiful thing about uni is that you meet people of all backgrounds and they meet new people different to them although I think some people are incredibly ignorant of this stuff so its a bit funny when they ask these questions.
