Ive got 5 tattoos. Ive got “Shhh” on my pointer finger (a nod to all librarians out there). Beauty and the beast stained glass rose on one forearm, the roman numerals LXV on the other. “Just breathe” on my ribs and an infinity J on my hip.

I never understood Eternal sunshine back when it came out.

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I’ve just finished my last lecture it’s 6 right now and I will be home in half an hour and it’s all well and good aside from a mistake from my part and that is not having lunch today which leads me to being REALLY hungry so much I’m shivering from the thought of food 😂😂😂😂 don’t worry I’m not gonna die or anything but I probably should have ate something because I’m craving for some bad foods such as pizza/burgers and a cup of tea with some custard creams (another weakness of mine back me up here brits)

Fun fact for you lot always eat breakfast lunch and dinner otherwise you will most likely start snacking or eat some stuff you really shouldn’t eat 😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭

I feel ya. I've got four books on the go, and I'm supposed to have started Nevernight already!

message 1565: by idiffer (new)

idiffer | 765 comments that's why I'm gravitating towards books with 350 pages or less. My plan for today is to read two 230-page books and be happy as a clam to have FINISHED smth. I have like 300 pages worth of unfinished reading over 3 books, and that's just the current stuff. + I have Twig, the 6k-page ongoing saga (it is one book), The instructions 1k-page tome and the Worm 6k-page saga (it is one book).

message 1566: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8702 comments Wow they sound like hard work. I know what you mean about gravitating towards shorter books. When I read a few at once it obviously takes me longer to finish anything and it frustrates me!

message 1567: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments @ idiffer 6k pages?! One of the things I like is being able to see myself making progress in a book - you know, the bookmark slowly moving nearer the back cover as the days go by. If I was reading a book so big the progress was barely noticeable I'd be seriously depressed.

message 1568: by idiffer (new)

idiffer | 765 comments @Shaitarn
Yeah, and i hate series, too. But noooo, these two happen to be the ones I can't drop.
Well, for Twig I made seperate FB2 files for every two arcs - that's ten 400-600 page files. So progress gets marked that way.

message 1571: by Ahdam (last edited Feb 10, 2018 01:03PM) (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments For some reason today I had an influx of ideas coming to me because I was watching videos about making films less than 10 minutes and try not to think too much. I had given my 10 page script to my lecturer and other than the dread to see her feedback from it I was think "maybe I'm doing too much" because you want to keep it simple

So I had loads of ideas coming my way I had an idea of 3 brother receive a golden envelope but none of them knows who it is for since they have similar names to what's printed and they literally fight to see who it is for and what secrets it fold (stupid but interesting)

Another was about a guy trapped in a story with a narrator who loves himself so much and would rather explain in excruciating detail instead of progressing the story

And the last one is a man and a woman who hate each other are handcuffed together and are trapped in a small room

Usually ideas pop out of nowhere and I write it down but this was a first and when I tried to write an outline for all this I couldn't because of the other ideas and my brain was literally like this

image: description

However there is a silver lining I want to get these ideas out of my head so why not turn them into a film and divert it somewhere but the question is what am I doing with my life? :( :( :(

I love the idea of the self-obsessed narrator! That sounds hilarious.

message 1573: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Yeah pretty much how I envision it the main character doesn't do what the narrator wants and he gets frustrated so he acts passively aggressive towards him because not only does he want things to go in order he wants to spend a much time explaining stuff so he can show of his voice which frustrates him

In the end the main guy gets his back by being literal e.g narrator says he spreads some butter guy uses hand, he drinks some milk he drinks from the carton and spills it everywhere until narrator gets fed up and quits and main guy is free.....until his replacement comes

Literally thought of this last night because I was bored and I wanted to make a story where I was all out fucks plus I was shown some social realist films and I wanted something cheerful as well

And so far I’m enjoying it.

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments So today I had my interview and it was a lot laxed than I thought it would be since the interviewer was really nice and wanted to know who I am as a person and we talked about the job and what not and when he wanted to know about my hobbies I told him I liked books and that went to a small chat about fantasy books how he had read lord of the rings and how I'm reading some books right now and how much I love story and my aspirations as a filmmaker it was very suprising cause it wasn't what I expected the interview to be and I felt like I might be in good hands.

So coming down to it I think I got it since he is going to try and get me in for a day of training soooooo I guess so?

I think its safe to say I had a really good day you know my lectures weren't that bad and I was given some insight to my essays (Going to do an essay around the lord of the rings film as a matter of fact)

Write screenplays and stories
Get through university

Is driving a class in school for you guys?... In the US, you learn to drive in school, and one of the teachers (usually gym, PE, Phys Ed) is licensed to take students out practicing... you go down to the DMV for your learner's permit after taking written test, and go back at 16th birthday for official driving test, after taking practice one in school for grade...

Been awhile, but I think that's how it all went...

I had irrational fear dreams about driving before I took Driver's Ed... probably a symptom of GTA and other driving games where hitting people was accepted...

I took drivers ed class when I was 16 and got my permit to drive with an adult in the car and then got my real license when I turned 18.

Timelord Iain | 35309 comments Mod
Yea... I was murky on the details... that's not how I did it exactly...

I took driver's ed in high school... didn't get license until 18 cause of home problems... and didn't drive more than once or twice a year until I was 22... having a car and more driving time makes all the difference... I was at risk of forgetting how to drive for awhile there...

For us driving was not part of the school curriculum. It is private, you pay for a driving school and the exams and you qualify to do this when you’re 17.

message 1590: by Barry (new)

Barry (boprawira) | 1212 comments Here in my country, most people just "paid" to get the driving license. That's why there are a lot of crazy stupid drivers. I always joke with my wife and some friends, you know the easiest way to reduce traffic in my city is to make everybody retake the driving test. I'm sure 50% of them will be gone lol.

Anyway, speaking of driving exam. I actually had my first driving license when I was in the US. I took the written part, and passed with flying colors. I took the driving test, and everything went smoothly with only one hiccup. The instructor told me to switch lanes, only he told me like 100meters before the traffic lights and while the traffic lights were changing to red. So I had to brake a little bit harder. And he failed me! He said I braked too hard. I was like "#%@#%".

So, I re-took the test in another DMV and passed about a month later, without any more hiccup.

our drivers ed school is private and have to pay hundreds of dollars for two weeks of classes. It wasn't part of high school.

My least favorite aspect of driving is parallel parking... and reversing in general... so I just avoid it as much as possible... only on-street park in locations where I the adjacent spots are empty... and pull through in parking lots so I can drive forward again when I leave...

Mostly works because I don't live in crazy big metropolitan areas... and don't go out much... city of 120,000 or so...

message 1594: by Yanique, Thread Master (new)

Yanique Gillana | 2867 comments Mod
@Iain my worst thing les when I was learning were moving off after stopping on a hill, and reversing up a hill. These may seem specific and trivial in some places, but my entire country is just hills and mountains. Those two things were part of the driving exam. Also.... you have to get your license on manual transmission 😩

message 1595: by Barry (new)

Barry (boprawira) | 1212 comments Now that a lot of cars have camera on board, you can actually see where you're going on reverse. I find my reversing skills diminished significantly so that when I drive with cars that don't have that technology I reverse like old granny lol.

I tend to avoid situations where I have to parallel parks on the streets, because unlike in the US where there are ample space for your car to slide in, in my country the space is super efficient.

I miss driving in the US ...

message 1596: by J.J. (new)

yea... I think hill parking and parallel parking almost failed me the exam... and I've never driven manual... most cars over here are auto, so it's not a requirement... manual shows up more in sports cars I think...

message 1599: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments In the uk it’s a bit similar but it not much of a school as once we filled the forms to get a provisional license (to say your a learner also what everyone used to drink legally here) we can book a few lessons with a driving instructor where he comes to you and you drive on different roads and he takes you through city centres and dual carriageways at least for me

and while we learn to drive we also need to take a theory test and once you’ve done that and you have taken enough lessons you can go to a test centre where a driving instructor can sit with you and you can drive to different places and once your done he either passes you or he fails you I haven’t had a test yet.

I think I find roundabouts the most intimidating since you’ve got to look everywhere in case a car comes around and I hesitate a lot so sometimes I end up waiting too long

What’s weird is that a couple of years ago you could apply for this thing where a learner can drive with someone who had a driving license for a couple of years and my sister had that and my dad was able to sit with her in the car as she does it but they got rid of that unfortunately.
