THANKS BUDDY! I've got chill's now, gonna have to cyber stalk him to watch for dates!
Samir wrote: "I have a question for those of you who have read both, The Broken Empire and The Red Queen's War by Mark Lawrence. Do I really have to read The Broken Empire first or I can just start with TRQW?Do ..."The two sites are seperate from each other, however, Jorg makes a cameo in Prince Of Fools. I found the first book in RQW to be quite funny and i never read the other trilogy. So, it's up to you really!
@Ahdam, good on ya! Cheers...you look sooooo chuffed...makes me smile too...heck I'm ugly grinning...😁
Everyone is "unitedly" happy for yooooooo....
@Petrik yep lazy world-building perhaps (but then I'm a wee bit M.L. biased...so I'll just call the Broken Empire a charmingly vague dystopian detritus)...but then the characters...
Oh come on @Samir do come and read RQW with us all...starts Feb. Never mind these two *snort* intellectual epicures
;-P
Petrik is right about the Easter eggs. You should read B.E. first if poss but Red Queen does stand on its own...
I agree with Petrik and Liam. Broken Empire and TRQW were pretty good, but I never really understood why so many people raved about the series.
Jenna wrote: "I agree with Petrik and Liam. Broken Empire and TRQW were pretty good, but I never really understood why so many people raved about the series."I dunno why I love these books, Jenna. I dunno why...but I do. There's just something...I can't even xplain. When ppl don't like them as much and I feel this need to...jezzt protect them...like I wrote them or something. It's weird. I don't normally hug my opinions to myself like this or even bother to stand up for them...I mean...take it or leave it, right? And yet...*sigh* Mark Lawrence...

Haha sometimes there is just really no reason as to why you love or hate a book. The best part is - there doesn't have to be :)

Aaaaand...in a sudden random change of topic...when does @Beste get bk?
A week she said.
A week is surely over, no?
Where are ya, Belle?
Look what Ahdam has posted...
Now we just need a Canada photo.
I think there is always a reason [for everything]. I'm especially intrigued by why ppl hate or love a certain book - that's why I read negative reviews of books I loved.
Yeah Mark Lawrence is definitely not my favorite. I do agree that you have to try him out for yourself and see. He is famous for a reason. I did like RQW much better, but it still fell flat on its face plot wise.
@Zaariel I'm back :) Still dealing with jetlag though. Missed you all.
(In my city it gets 5-10degrees coldest). So relatively this trip was freezing to me.
(This gap is for the respect to my 15 mins spent on trying uploading a pic here) (Not successful as one can see :)
I couldn't do much but I liked the food. I also read The Dispossessed I wanted to mark half of the book. Still under the influence of that beautifully written ideas, ideologies.
@Ahdam: Really nice photo! I'm happy for you that you got to meet Sanderson and your hair looks okay, though ;)
So glad you got to meet Sanderson and have some books signed Ahdam! I met him a few years ago and LOVED it! I had several family members go with me so that I could get a bunch of books signed, haha. Just waiting for him to do another signing near me. Might have to just fly to Utah at some point and do one of the ones he has out there. :D
Ahdam wrote: "Ok now that I'm sorted here's the gist I was walking to Waterstones and I wanted to be early but not too early, thinking it wont be a huge line just like Peter Bretts signing.....Well the line almo..."Very cool!

Sorry, I wasn't online much. I applied for a job in the IT department and got it so I went out to celebrate. :) After last night's experience, I realized this:
I'm 33 btw.
I've just read you answers. Thank you all for your contribution.
I either get 5-6hrs of sleep... or 10hrs... I rarely get 8 like I should... I just get progressively more tired each day until I can't stay awake one day and go to bed early... getting up when I feel like it on nights off doesn't have much effect on this... except making sure I'm too awake to get more than 5-6hrs sleep before my first work day of the week (Thursday)

I never understood this (I do all these simple things before calling customer support with problems)... but a week or 3 ago the Fax & Pull associate asked me to help her find some printers in the backstock steel at work... spent 15 minutes looking for it, dropping tons of printers looking for the right one that wasn't properly scanned into the steel... finally ask boss for help and he says "Let's check the aisle where it's supposed to be first"... I'm all "She said she checked", but we go over there and find them right where they're supposed to be... DOH!!!

Thanks! I won't smirk. I'll do this:
Woww no randoms for a week. Guess everyone is trying to organize things before the competition begins in the new year :)
Beste wrote: "Woww no randoms for a week. Yea... it's been pretty quiet here except for the dozen or so Buddy Read threads going on... Zaara got talkative again just before her holiday trip to Europe(?) before New Zealand soon, I think...
I just can't focus on The Eye of the World. Please tell me a good movie, that would either boost my mood or make me cry (something strong).

I dunno if it's what you're looking for, but I saw Kingsman: Golden Circle yesterday... less Channing Tatum and more Elton John than I expected... had all the over-the-top action I was looking for... if there's a third movie (view spoiler)
Wait did you say new Zealand was in Europe you best get down before Angela sees this hahaha but you do know where NZ is right?? or am I not reading that right Also Beste I see Belgium as being between France and Germany so that's that but hope you enjoy the weather here in the EU (we haven't left yet so its ok)
Beste wrote: "I just can't focus on The Eye of the World. Please tell me a good movie, that would either boost my mood or make me cry (something strong)."Big Hero 6
The Last Samurai
The Rundown
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Phenomenon
The Polar Express
How about Logan its probably one of the best superhero movies I've seen ever and I'm getting tired of superhero films so its good also I can recommend some arty films which can mess you up big time haha

No... Zaara is usually in Australia, I think... but right now she is in Europe... she popped in the other day while Roaming because she couldn't help herself and was happy to be nearer to our Western Hemisphere time zones... but she'll be in New Zealand by Christmas... so she's on some sort of multi-stop trip/vacation...

I've only seen one of those...
I haven't seen it, but I hear Wonder requires a box of tissues... I think it's still in theatres...
I think I've only seen 3 of the 12 movies Chris and Ahdam listed... I've missed out on a ton of classics, and I rarely see new movies either...

I know, I know. Half my family lives there. Its snowing but won't get worse than Canada.
Also Iain was saying Zaara is going to Europe before she goes to NZ.
Yeah I was a bit confused cause in my head it sounded like he was saying new Zealand and you said you need to Europe more but yeah me and my assumptions also its getting cold here in jolly old England the snow might actually set here so that's nice

Yeah I'm in England and a few cm of snow has laid here already.

I watched Big Hero 6 because my little cousins wanted to watch it. I cried my eyes out. They should put a warning on this kind of movies because my kind of ppl underestimate the animations (see me watching Lion King).
The Last Samurai, ahh the last decent movie Tom Cruise played
The Rundown (definitely watching this asap!)
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (have seen this with family years ago, will remember to watch it this year too)
and I love The Polar Express
Thanks Chris

I'm on the same page as Petrik. It's rare that I would ever double back on my original rating for a series, but I definitely soured to those =\.
