Thanks Miche,

I post to Pinterest only when I'm looking for a particular idea on a project. I hardly ever go on there. My BFF though loves Pinterest and uses it all the time. She is very crafty and arty though.

I like Pinterest when I start a new series to look up fan art, it gets me more into it and helps visualize characters

I picked up drawing as a hobby earlier in the year and Pinterest has given me a bunch of tools and lessons to use with my pencil work. It's been very useful for a dude that isn't going to school for art!

There’s a digital artist in the custom textile game who is just nailing it. He’s had absolutely nailing it. If you’ve got the grit and the patience, you’ve got all you need.

Hopefully we will be able to see some of your art coming up in the future!

Oathbringer, bringing near silence to Goodreads since 14th November 2017.

Well for those of us not reading the series. ;-) The thread has been really active.

It must be the most popular buddy read of the year.

For me having three of my favorite series release books Deadhouse Landing and Blood and Tempest all at once has eaten up all my bandwidth for sure.

Yea... Happy Thanksgiving... it's a bit of a wasted holiday for me... I visit friends and get some free food... but since I work the night before and it's a 2hr drive, I hang out for 2-3 hours and eat, then struggle to stay awake since I've been up 18hrs already... ducked out on the 2nd family meal and just slept 8hrs and drove home...

I'm a bit of a hermit... if I didn't visit friends for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'd never leave town all year... I put about 3300 miles on my car a year... 600 of them are the 2 trips out of town for Christmas and Thanksgiving... most of the rest are the 2500 miles a year I put on driving 5 miles to work and 5 miles home ~250 days a year...

At least this year I didn't get sick with kid germs, I don't think... last year I was under the weather for like 3 weeks... but some of the kids weren't fully mobile yet, last year, so there was more holding...

1) I work overnights stocking shelves/pallets at Sam's Club (closed store, no customers)...

2) No kids... it's my friends that keep having kids... my college roommate has 2 kids now (5 & 2 I think)... his sister has 4 now (19, 17, 3 & 1 I think)... so I don't have immunity... I show up for the holidays and get them all at once...

Ah I see now.

Luckily I have my husband to transport me “Weekend at Bernie’s” style on long trips. I always seem to be coming off nights when it’s Christmas, so yeah wake up at 3 pm work 12 hr shift, then leave at noonish the next day.
He said it’s literally like transporting a corpse, that I flop around and have this grey pallor LOL

Yea... I work nights, so I sleep 1pm-8pm or so each day... then work 9:30p-6am... I drove down there 7-9am... hung out until noon... went to the parents house for food... there was an hour or so of sitting around getting tired, some eating time... then I kept falling asleep and starting awake every time something noisy happened... everyone found it hilarious...

Then we left and I was dropped off at friend's house to sleep and replaced with friend's wife, who skipped the first meal to sleep off HER hospital shift... she's a nurse of some variety (I can never remember what degree she finished since she changed focus so many times)... anyway, they went to her parents for meal 2, and I got to quit pretending to be awake...

On Christmas, I'm fully awake for the festivities, because I generally have Christmas Eve off vs Thanksgiving Day... but on Christmas I have to drive back after eating and work an 8hr shift Christmas night... usually...

Driving while tired is the worst... I went to visit family in Massachusetts a few years back... the flight back was delayed because of snowstorms... got back to Chicago airport in time to watch my transfer flight fly off while waiting to dock the plane at a terminal... would have been stuck in chicago for 2 days waiting for replacement flight, so I spent $300 on a rental car to drive 3hrs home... (5 wrong tolls later I got out of Chicago correctly)... I was so tired, having been up close to 24hrs by the time I started my drive, that I saw a chunk of interstate painted darker with tar and thought there was a giant hole in the interstate I needed to dodge... no accidents, but probably one of my scarier driving stories...

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Not sure where to say this, but my copy of oathbringer came in today (coincidently a day after I finished way of kings) and I think I have the most inconsistent bookshelf ever because some of the series books, I got are a mixture of paperback and hardback which is a bit annoying since I refuse to wait a year for a paperback and with SA I got the TOR editions due to A) didn't want to buy 5 books and B) I love the covers of the edition I love the uk ones but I also love the others ones. So that's the good the bad is WOR is smaller than the other 2 books.....the bastards :( :( :(

Back to the topic I was so excited to open it that I felt my heart racing opening the package until I saw it and I felt my life flashing before me I then decided to check how many pages is in the book and I ran into some fabulous artwork I think I lost it hahahaha if that wasn't weird enough for you I have it on my shelf but my bed is opposite my bookshelf so when I look up my eyes drift towards it soooo this isn't weird at all maybe the radical bookworm is seeping in but yeah I was really excited about this anyway here's a pic if it works.

Petrik (petrikleo) | 1546 comments Oh that's even worse than mine Ahdam! The WoR you have is the mass market paperback, not the newly released trade paperback. I can tell you this though, DO NOT BUY the trade paperback of Words of Radiance if you're looking for shelves aesthetic. I bought it because Sanderson changed a tiny event in Words of Radiance HC and my OCD can't accept it, especially because it was the first HC I purchased on my own. But then, when I bought the trade paperback of WoR, not only the size didn't match the trade paperback of WoK, it also features different typography.

If you haven't realized it, the typography in WoK and WoR are different from Oathbringer (look at the spine), seems like starting form now this is the typography they decided to use.

Rant, over too. Anyway, I understand how you felt, I was happy as fuck when I received Oathbringer! :D

message 1122: by Miche (new)

Miche | 3279 comments My OCD side makes my eyes glitch every time I see my books together, because of the spine.

I can understand the change, as with Oathbringer they went with a cleaner look, but it is distracting at the shelf.

I will forgive them only because the art inside the books are spectacular and I have to support Tor for doing that in normal books, not only at special editions.

Yeah I got mine of book depository because amazon doesn't have it here but I don't mind if one is smaller I don't fully understand what you mean by sanderson changing an event was it something in the story he changed or is it something different.

I can't tell you without spoiling anything. Let's just say that event A: Winnie the Pooh kicked Piglet and steal his honey. He changed it into event B: Winnie the Pooh killed piglet and steal his honey.

get what I mean? the result is the same, but the method is different.

After Words of Radiance was published he did a change on how a scene occurred. It is a big spoiler, so I wouldn't check that until you finished reading the book. The outcome of the scene didn't really change it was mostly how the situation was handled.

Big spoiler.

Link above for you to check after you finished the book. You can find both scenes online at Stormlight forums and at reddit, so you don't really need to buy a new book to read that. :)
