I think I first heard it early this year... because I spend too much time on reddit and imgur... but it's not a work I can see myself using outside of a joke like above... that and Bae and a few others...

I thought it was spelled dealio anyway...

message 715: by Scott , Karsa Orlong (new)

Scott Hitchcock (lostinthewarrenofchaos) | 8083 comments Mod
In the utterly inane category..........we aren't really going to debate the spelling of dilio, dillio, dealio or whatever other spelling you choose? I think I'd rather trust Margret with a letter opener in close vicinity to my twig and berries.

BTW, and Margret will especially love this, I do the same thing with my wife. I use words our grandparents would use and it drives her ape shit.

ottoman = hassock
living room = parlor
TV shows = My programs are on
pocketbook = purse

And when I really want a rise veggie platter = Crudités

message 717: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

At least it wouldn't be confused for "what the dildo" (I assume that's what Margret saw)

And there used to be a home movie of me at about 8 complaining that my program was on (Murder, She Wrote)... I think the phrasing might still used in the UK... or it was 20yrs ago... or I got it from my Nana/Papa (Great-grandparents) as a kid...

It's funny cos I was asking him about the inconsistency of the ecosystem I mentioned when reading painted man and he said he had written notes and appendixes on it but couldn't fit into the story. I didn't find it a huge problem more like an observation but it's nice to know he thought of it :) :)

Also the cheekiness on my face is unbelievable

Did you stretch the image?... the dimensions look weird...

Nice getting to meet a favorite author... I've never done anything like that...

message 737: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Yeah it's really difficult to find the right dimensions since goodreads has you choose them which is annoying but I'll deal with it

But thanks it was great to meet him and he's a nice guy

message 738: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35281 comments Mod
width, height, and description are optional... just doing < img src = "" > will keep the original dimensions of the picture... and scale it down to the goodreads limits if it's a really big picture...

If you think about it Ahdam, normal pics are usually on a scale of 2/3 (ie/ 400x600 or 200x300 is what I pick if the formatting looks funky from the usual)

I tend to get pictures and book covers working in the app by opening pages 2x... open -> back -> reopen... I dunno why it works, but it does on iPhone app at least...

Me too, exist out of the thread, go back in and usually the images magically load.

Zaara | 4273 comments Remedies for alchoholic birthday party party-induced sore head please. I really could use some help now, people. It's dehydration. Force yourself to drink a gallon of water today. Just keep pouring it home.

message 745: by Zaara (new)

Zaara | 4273 comments Whaaaaa...Abster? How long have you been a member of this group and I haven't noticed? Aren't you in any of my reads...Blade itself, 27th? But I forget...you've read Ole Joe already, haven't you? You can still come and comment. A thread with xoo comments is still better than a read with a scattershot of 50 or 60. Do come. 27th ok?

Thanks much, Scott. I shall. In fact, chugging it down right now.

My friend from work (who clearly drinks too much) says she takes 2 B12 vitamins before going out, then when she’s ready for bed after takes 2 Advil with a bunch of water, and swears that there’s no hangover

message 747: by Zaara (new)

Zaara | 4273 comments Yea Margret...i heard the thing abt the vitamins too...and I've taken one very well washed down.
Contrary to the "Oz" stereotype I dont touch beer...cant stand the bitter taste. I wouldn't drink beer if it were free.
I'm all for the Scotch and Irish. I dont smoke any cigars tho and im hopeless at card games. But whisky and foul mouth i can do...so im at home in those men's clubs...
I'm on;y a thrice/year drinker (the rare strawberry martinis with the girls dont count) so i don't have much stomach for it...but this time was with a bunch of army brats and journos...and those mean byaatches didnt let me wimp out when the shots got going...
Ergo...I'm reminded of Gimli son of Gloin...I prolly look like him as well right now.
And the drinking was more than 24 hours ago.
Tks sweetheart. My best to the boozy colleague.

@Ab: Yeah I have been haunting the place for the last coupla weeks. I have these phases. If every post of mine from here popped up on your update feed...I shudder to think...change your settings, Ab. Do it now,

Positively the 27th then. Don't you forget. The thread is here...you have to RSVP on it saying yes or in or something vaguely similar. Wierd, i seem to remember you and @Polo and @Manu were all on abt it over at...or was that Stormlight?
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Also, I refuse to drink anything called The Green Fairy. So there!

@Ahdam...not even sure you and Ab are of legal drinking age yet? Btw say hello to Brandon Sanderson for me, you big celebrity meeter you, and if you ever meet Mark Lawrence...please get an extra something signed for me ok? I know he doesn't travel much xcuz of family constraints. I'll gladly pay for the postage to wherever I am. I really must go now.

Not sure how it works in Australia or something (judging from your posts haha) but over here in the uk the legal drinking age is over 16 and over 18 to legally buy alchohol and I'm 19 so I'm definitely over the drinking age so suck it americans even though I don't drink

Also cheers Mark was in Hull a couple of weeks ago I believe with Brett and Abercrombie but I aint travelling that distance for that shit haha but good night
