Welcome back. I fell off the Goodreads wagon in 2019 when I got pregnant and my youngest. Just came back a year ago. The great thing about Goodreads is how you can weave in and out of it so easily.

I stopped getting email notifications from Goodreads on threads I’m following. It’s really salting my game.

There's been talk of this in other threads... it looks like GR redesigned it's notification UI, and you might need to go through and resubscribe to threads and adjust account notification settings to get things working again (can't say personally, since I don't use the email options myself, 100% a notification checker)

Innkeeper Chronicles Book Club thread is the first one I've noticed missing from my notification feed, since I pull up so many of my threads from my URL history...

Diana commented 8 days ago, but it's nowhere in my notification history... I think the site was acting weird that day, page unavailable/etc...

Oathbringer - finally finished Worlds of Radiance yesterday, priority reading, I also want to continue with Mistborn 5 soon and should read both SA 4 and Mistborn 5 before December to be caught up...
The Lies of Locke Lamora - I read few pages... I don't have space to read this one but I really want to lol
Empire of Ivory - continued series, read one chapter then put it to rest since next book is only up on December and I had too much on my plate
The Dragonbone Chair - stuck halfway for a month, I am afraid I forgot too much to continue but I want to continue...
Jade Legacy - Few chapters in, was too late for the BR but don't want to put the series on hold...

Of course I don't feel like dropping any of them... The delusional part of me thinks I will be able to read them all before my overstuffed December schedule starts. I mean it's only like 6000 pages and my eye read record in one month is 3000 but of course a miracle will happen 🤣

This has been bothering me so much... I had my settings give me notifications for every thread in FBR and then I would unsubscribe to BRs that I wasn't joining in for. Not sure how to go about it now. :(

I'm not 100% sure how it works anymore... there's a checkbox to "notify me when people comment", but I get notifications on threads I haven't checked the box for, because of group/account settings... I think the group/account settings supercede, until you check and uncheck the box on a single thread?

I think the changes were to cut down on the emails GR was sending to millions of users... probably saves them money, especially since alot of users probably didn't use the emails they got by default... sucks for the people that DID use them, tho...

That would be a handy skill to have. When I was younger I always imagined the wall next to my bed would have a door to a cozy room where I could go to read books without any time passing on the outside. When I started using Goodreads I really put some serious thought to how could I read so much and still track everything on Goodreads without it looking suspicious. Once when I was thinking about what would I do if I started my life over, one of my biggest issues was how would I track books on Goodreads that I have read in my previous life. Would I just count first reading in the new life? I clearly have my priorities straight.

Yes! A while ago Choko talked about a magical reading bubble where time doesn't pass while you're reading. Would absolutely love one of those!

I get it though, there's just so many good books being read by the group at the same time and there's just not enough time in a day. Apparently we have to "work" to "make a living" 🙄🙄 LOL

I think the sad reality is that even reading 24/7 I would still not be able to read all the good books I want to read... They just keep coming every year. I must be satisfied to just read through all the maximum priority ones. Which is something I am doing now thanks to this group rather than just leaving those for the "right time" to read them 🙄

Shame on me for being lost again, but this time I have a good reason at least. Our daughter was born in September and so I was a little busy. She's incredible easy-going and brings us so much joy. I pre-ordered Wind and Truth but I'm still on book 2, doing a re- listening. Good thing books are patient 🤭
