The members list is limited by the usual 100 page limit, so you can only look at in-depth info on 3000 members... I didn't realize you could see more anywhere, until I went looking and saw the stat at the bottom of Group Home... we have alot of lurkers...

Too bad there wasn't not only a "last online" but "but last online in the group" . That'd give you a better sense of actual lurkers.

Yea... less than 1100 members have ever commented in the group, and nearly half of those members only commented once, so it was probably just in the Welcome thread... around 300 commented more than 20 times...
Considering the groups I'm in and never really visit, I imagine mouse of ours don't really check in, either...

Talking about this, I kinda wish there were Group Stat Graphs, similar to the book stat graphs available in My Books... comments per month, active members per month, new threads per month maybe (in this group, anyway, where threads generally equal BRs and Book Clubs)...

From what I've seen, mods have access to a couple extra group settings, but it's mostly related to photos/images/descriptions/sorting of the group page, and public/private/challenge question stuff... not too many bells and whistles...
Probably falls to 3rd party scrapers using API calls to do anything special... like the SteamCharts website that tracks concurrent game players over time...

Yeah I'm always interested in more stats, and that would be interesting to see. One metric is how many page views a thread has, and the new Invite and Planning thread started this year only has 101 views, so that tracks for active members planning. The revived Master List starting the beginning of 2022 meanwhile has 431, so that might be a good gauge to include our active lurkers.

You can see unique views from the discussion page and the top of a discussion thread and unique commenters from notifications... but it's hard to see it on the macro level, and combined... my notification feed says the Planning thread has 27 unique commenters...

What Lies Beyond the Veil (Of Flesh & Bone) sounds super macabre, when read together like that :D

Macabre but really intriguing!

confession time...
*whispers* sometimes I don't tell you guys what I'm reading next, because I know if I do, we'll end up scheduling a BR for weeks/months from now, and I need something to read TODAY *end whispers*
It's happened so many times :D

Half my rando reads still managed to turn into Choko Buddy Reads...
Of late, there's been the House Witch trilogy last month, the Nathan Lower / Trader's Tales books, then I stopped waiting to do an Agatha H Buddy Read, read the 6th Marla Mason book again, and I've recently started trying to give Polity universe a 3rd shot (I've only read the first 3-4 books)... I'm also planning to read the Nora Kelly books, now that I'm all caught up on Pendergast... and almost done doing a binge re-read of Imperial Radch, before Translation State comes out...
I've been feeling a bit at loose ends, and seeking more reading options, tho... and that's where the secrecy generally comes in, until I've started the book and start sharing thoughts somewhere...

I mean, itβs inevitable with varying reading speedsβ¦ last year I did 20-30 books a monthβ¦ this year itβs been more like 45-50β¦

I'm reading The House Witch for my in person book club this month. It looks really cute!

It is... I binged the whole trilogy... and look forward to future books from the author making it from Royal Road to Audible... there's a spinoff, the start of a sequel, and a new world/story going on already... spinoff due out on Audible soon, start of sequel hopefully within the next year, and the new one is too new right now, only a few chapters...

Been wanting to read that due to Iain rec... interested in setting up a BR for it?

Sure! I was planning on reading it on the 22nd. Would that work for you?

Sounds good!

Sounds good!"
Ok, I just submitted the request.
We updated the request form instructions again, to try and gently weed out people making spurious requests (authors popping in, and/or new members that didn't read the Welcome instructions and jumped right to making/requesting a thread without finding people to read with, first)...
Asking for 2+ people in the Requested By field now :)
Asking for 2+ people in the Requested By field now :)

Damn! Missed my chance to do all the suspicious requesting
On the other hand... I could just request buddyreads adding Iain as second reader, not suspicious at all π

Iain's like, "Oooh, hm, actually.....!"
Good to see you back, Anni!
I rarely view the requests... Yanique handles that side of things... don't be giving people ideas :D

Aww thanks β₯οΈ

And I kinda said DAMN YOU, ANNIKA!!!!, in all caps, in another thread, when someone said they were making some BR requests, and using me as the 2nd (even tho it's 100% true :D )

Mmm, I can see your dilemma. But I you read enough for two people, so it's totally legit.

Hahaha, I love it when my evil plans work out, especially when it's that effortless π

I also was looking at the members list when you mentioned the comments count of some folks here, and noticed that the group also hit past a milestone: "MEMBERS (6667)" π€
