The Year of the Kindle.I had to move at the beginning of the year, so most of my paper books are in storage. I, therefore, dedicated this year to reading electronically and taking advantage of my Kindle and Comixology Unlimited subscriptions.
I received a bonus in that I have now added audiobooks/narration into the mix - something I never thought I would consider in the past.
Tagline for 2022.... Hmmm... Hard to say.... Read almost equal amount of paper books and ebooks... So far... Seems like I read more fantasy books then other genres but still others all together were more than fantasy... So.. No tagline :)
That's a fun question @Mel! For me, this was my first year at FBR and also my first year trying audiobooks--and as a result, I read a lot of things I'd never even heard before... so maybe Year of Audio & Anomalies?
2022 was a year of Buddy Reads for me. About half the books I read this year were a BR :)
It was a year of mysteries for me. I read more mysteries than anything this year with fantasy coming in second. I usually read more fantasy than mystery.

Everytime I looked, you were reading Mysteries with me or with outside parties...
Then I stumbled on to you reading Super Powereds, this week, when on the book page for entirely unrelated reasons...

Super Powereds is my in person fantasy book club read this month. So far it has been very entertaining. I had to start book 2 right after I finished book 1. And yeah, I really did get sucked into reading a lot of mysteries this year.

Interesting... it's a solid series... altho the final book is a bit combat training and then real combat heavy... the spinoff book, Corpies, is good too... it explores the world of corporate superheroes, and Titan coming out of retirement after his disgrace years ago... I think it fits somewhere between book 2 and 4 in the timeline, overlapping with book 3 a bit...
I hope Drew finds time to write the sequel series someday (would take place decades after they graduate, I think, and mostly focus on new characters?)... this isn't gonna be a thing until NPCs and Fred are done, I don't think... maybe Villains' Code and 5 Minute Sherlock too, I dunno...

NPCs is up to 5 books. I'm slowly going through them with my husband during car rides on audio.

Noble Roots, NPCs #5, came out over the summer...
Posthumous Education, Fred the Vampire #8, came out yesterday... both are ongoing... I really like the Fred series... the stories are more connected in later volumes... the first entry is more of an anthology, assembling the cast... there's a pretty well-developed ongoing story now... Fred has built a nice clan of supernatural friends and powerful allies... his maker is still causing problems, tho, for him and the supernatural world in general... and there's a sentient bed & breakfast...
Checking out the Author's Series Status page on his website, the next 5-minute Sherlock is being written now :D

Clines has done a terrible job of keeping up with his blog or his author website. I'm not scanning his other social media - when I tried in the past there was too much other stuff. I vaguely remember him mentioning being excited about writing something else so I don't have a lot of hope.

should have a fair bit of downtime to recover the rest of the year, tho, hopefully... and get the work done... off 2 days, work 3 days, off christmas, work a day, off 2 days, work 3 days, off new years, then I have a 4 day weekend right after new years, or the week after...

Remember that thing Jenna used to do at the start of the year where you could set yourself a target for buddy reads in the group and link a shelf so it would update your number? Can that still be done? I've kept making myself a shelf to record buddy reads myself haha :D

Nope, but I definitely want to read that... you say Jodi Taylor, which is nice... but the blurb really reminds me of The Invisible Library series, and Phoenix Rising series (Ministry of Peculiar Occurence)...
Sounds interesting... series... seems 5 books... three first books on kindle unlimited in the UK... shame I have no space there... eh.

Yes I was thinking Invisible Library too actually! I just started that series last month and will continue soon. :)
Both of these things make me think of a tv show I never actually watched that much, but i'm sure this was the general concept... Warehouse 13? :)

That's a great comparison... I've watched the first couple seasons twice... never made it to the end (because I have a propensity to restart after a long break)...
Invisible Library is great... I finished it last year, with the final release (number 8, I think)... looking forward to Genevieve Cogman's next book/series:
Scarlet -- The Scarlet Pimpernel + vampires -- first in a trilogy -- releases in May...

These upcoming BRs are going off the rails! And the list just keeps growing and growing! I wonder if we'll keep up this momentum throughout the year. Definitely wasn't this busy when I became active in this group!

Right? Poor Margret having to keep up with it all. ^_^;; I remember having multiple BRs for the same book, sometimes quite close together. And it seemed like early BRs routinely had 100s of comments too - Daughter of the Forest in 2017 was around 450! Not sure about others, but I felt the lull once the Master Buddy Read List went down. It was a lot more ad hoc, the Last Minute Thread was created, BRs in Clubs, or in Tracker threads, or whereever.Point is, I love all this activity again - BRs scheduled out for the next year with lots to look forward to. :D
