Lord of the Rings Movie Tie-In edition question

I ran into a bit of a weird situation. The Movie Tie-In editions read as page 1 in book 1 to page 1137 in book 3.

The Fellowship of the Ring listed 398, actual 1-398
The Two Towers listed 725 pages, actual page numbers 403-725
The Return of the King listed 1137 pages, actual page numbers 731-1137

How should these actually read? If I read nothing but the final book it will register as 1,137 pages read but I'll only have read 406. By reading the entire trilogy, I've read 1,137 pages but if I enter the books separately it will show that I've read 2,260 pages.

And yes, it will artificially inflate users total page counts. We consider that preferable to requiring them to use a calculator determine what page they are on for status updates.
