Sounds good to me!

Don't know if that's the best idea, I personally loved the Gunslinger but I think if I hadn't already read The Stand and Eyes of the Dragon I may not have.

I'm interested in Dark Tower too. I'm like Iain, I've never read any of his books. But I've watched some of the movies based on his books. Would that help do you think? Why do you think one should start with another book?

You might want to give it until the second book to decide. The first book had a much different feel from the second one. Just a thought.

The first book starts off in the middle of a story, and there is no context. Having read other stories like The Stand, Insomnia, and Eyes of the Dragon provide that context. You are already invested in the characters and have some idea of the big picture. Also, some stories like Salem's Lot and the Talisman/ Black House have direct crossover and IT has information that is relevant to understanding the later books.
I agree with Veronica, the first book is a collection of serialized short stories, and many people don't get into it when reading it especially for the first time. BUT! It is short, so I'd definitely not make any decisions until book 2.
All this Dark Tower talk.... I may join this BR, lol.

January 15 for Etched in Bone, February 15 for Lake Silence and 1st March for Raven's Shadow is fine by me!

I can read the first three; they've been sitting on my shelf for far too long!

Super! I'll request them in a bit. I plan on reading the whole series so hopefully more people will join.

Ok the buddy reads for Etched in Bone and Lake Silence are set up. I'm requesting the one for Raven's Shadow now.

I'm always down for GGK. Children of Earth and Sky would be the one I'd read with you since I haven't read the first book in the Under Heaven duology.

@Laura- Does that work for you for for Cast in Shadow? When do you want to do Last Storm Lord and Seraphina?
@ Charlie Dates you prefer?

@Veronica I'd be happy to reread Under Heaven if you'd like to do the duology as well. Do you have a preferred date for Children of Earth and Sky?

I will ask for a thread for the book, then whenever you get it comment and we will start okay?

Okay then June for the Cuckoo's Calling and Feb middle for The Martian.

I only have a couple of BRs each month (I'm limiting myself to only 2-3 per month) so I still have lots of flexibility. Whatever and whenever works for you.

@Elizabeth - those dates sound good to me too.
For the Last Stormlord and Seraphina any month would be good. The sooner the better.
@Shaitarn - I will be reading the whole series of Cast in Shadow and Last Stormlord once I start with them and I'll be joining you for Kay. I also need to correct that oversight.

Yes, me :) Wanted to read them for long.

• The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger (2003 Revised Edition)
• The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three (1987)
• The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands (1991)
• The Stand: Complete and Uncut Edition (1990)
•The Talisman (1984)
• The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass (1997)
• The Eyes of the Dragon (1987)
• "Little Sisters of Eluria" from Everything's Eventual (2002)
• The Dark Tower: The Wind Through the Keyhole (2012)
• Salem's Lot (1975)
• The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla (2003)
• The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah (2004)
• Insomnia (1994)
• "Low Men in Yellow Coats" from Hearts in Atlantis (1999)
• Black House (2001)
• "Everything's Eventual" from Everything's Eventual (2002)
• The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower (2004)
That's the adviced order. Maybe we can try the first 3 books and see after that?

Buddy Reads seem to tend to start on the 1st :D Would the 10th be ok too? If not, I will just start late. :)

Copied from Mods Please Add This Buddy Read
(this formatting note doesn't matter at all for this thread, but when you go to request something to be added to the schedule, please note this! thanks!)
To everyone lately who has been using our format (ex. [ book:The Martian|18007564] instead of like this: The Martian) -
I know you think it is helpful to us to format it like this when you request a BR, and for being so considerate, I'm really thankful and touched! You guys are the best! However, it is actually a lot easier for us if you just format it like this: The Martian. The reason being it's easier to double check the publishing date and we can easily make sure we have the right book in the case of some titles being similar (otherwise we actually have to make a new post, copy and paste [ book:The Martian|18007564], remove the space, then follow the link, and delete the post after checking).
If you are posting somewhere like Master Buddy Read List or New Releases 2019 in case we forgot to put something there (thanks to Iain recently for the super long list in NR), the way we do it is helpful to copy. But otherwise, please keep the link the way it is :)

I'd love to join you guys in the "Throne of Glass" BR ^^

I don't have any dates in mind. Anytime from February onwards...

I'd love to reread the series with you. I don't think I even read books 3 or 4 XD Would sometime in March work? Or later in the year?

Oh thats a shame. I wanted to read them in 2019 since I remember them being quite easy reads so I want to get the team points for them. Hopefully it'll be fresh in your memory so you can pop into talk in the threads if you wanted 😉

Melissa and I are also buddy reading East on January 1 if anyone else is interested in that one.
