Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments Anyone interested in starting a Fire & Blood buddy read.? I'd be rather open to the idea of splitting it up story by story as it covers each "historical" event". It drops 11/20.

I'm up for Skyward as well. Though it may conflict with the Wrath buddy reach which starts on the 5th.

Fab, how about December 20th to give people who want to read Nevernight time to catch up?

I have a read starting around 8th, so the earlier the better, truthfully - would 4th or 5th be okay?

That's fine for me. I've requested the book in the library. It will be back around 5th November, so that's ideal.

Justin (rockstarintraining) | 0 comments New to the group, and it looks like I missed the group read of this series, but...

I’m about a third of the way through The Eye of the World if anyone is itching to read the Wheel of Time series. I’d love to read along with some other people.

I'm in too. I just put it on hold at the library. Whenever it arrives I'm first in line.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments I preordered via Amazon so... Not sure when it will arrive. Maybe December.

I'm fine with holding off until December - let's say the 5th? (we can request it be added once we decide on a date) Was thinking of doing it history by history - this way if anyone gets it late, they can still catch up and jump in! Don't know how long each chapter is of course, but thinking 1 or 2 a week?

here's the TOC from Reddit

The Reign of the Dragon — The Wars of King Aegon I
Three Heads of the Dragon — The Government of King Aegon I
The Sons of the Dragon
Aegon’s Conquest
A Prince Becomes King — The Rise of Jaehaerys’ I
49 A.C. — The Year of the Three Brides
Rulers Abound
Time of Probation — The Renewal of the Empire
Birth, Death and Betrayal under King Jaehaerys I
Jaehaerys I and Alysanne — Triumphs and Tragedies
Jaehaerys I and Alysanne — Politics, Offspring and Anguish
The Heirs of the Dragon — A Question of Succession
The Death of the Dragons — The Blacks and the Greens
The Death of the Dragons — Son after Son
The Death of the Dragons — The Red and the Golden Dragon
The Death of the Dragons — Rhaenyra Triumphs
The Death of the Dragons — Rhaenyra’s Fall
The Death of the Dragons — The Short, Sad Reign of Aegon III
Aftermath — The Hour of the Wolf
Under the Regents — The Hand under the Hood
Under the Regents — War and Peace and Livestock Markets
Under the Regents — The Voyage of Alyn Oakenfist
The Lyseni Spring and The End of the Regency
The Succession of House Targaryen of Westeros

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments Bad news, I just checked the delivery date and there's none available yet. Overseas delivery is unpredictable so I could not give you any date. Will jump in whenever the book arrives but one chapter a week seems to be more suitable.

Ok, I'll just ask for December 5th regardless then and cross my fingers and toes for quick delivery to Jakarta on your behalf! Laura/Ben does that work for you? I know the library and the hold system is a mysterious thing indeed :)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Small question regarding Fire and Blood guys.

Is this one supposed to be a standalone or does it have a part 2? Because if it ends in the same blasted way the last book from ASOIAF did and then I have to wait years for the sequel I'd rather not read it at all.

message 3522: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments It is basically a history book and not a novel with a plot. It ends with Aegon III so there will be part II from Viserys I (?) onwards.

Right - Part II will continue rest of series spoilers, so I suspect it won't be released until after the series is done (or at least after the Winds of Winter..whenever that drops from the sky.)

I'm fine if a lot of people want to move it into 2019 even. Gives me an excuse to cancel my pre-order and put it on amazon wish list as a possible xmas or chanukah gift ;)

Not as if this is Winds of Winter which like as I did with Dance, will take off from work the day it comes out and take over a spot at a coffee shop for the day ;)

I'm in for Black Dagger Brotherhood and 2 books a month sounds good. It is a big series and once I start it, I'd like to finish it in one year. Besides, they should be pretty easy reads to not pose a problem even if taken more than 1 a month. :)

message 3547: by Shaitarn (last edited Nov 26, 2018 11:25AM) (new)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments I'm planning to read/re-read some older fantasy books next year and wondered if anyone would like to join me. I'm hoping to read the following:

The Morgaine Saga by C J Cherryh and the sequel, Exile's Gate (everyone should read something by this lady at least once; she is awesome.)

The Winter of the World series by Michael Scott Rohan; 7 books in total, starting with The Anvil of Ice

The Golden Key.

I'm also planning a Forgotten Realms read next year, so if anyone wants to read any FR books, let me know - I don't have all of them (does anyone?) but I have quite a few!

message 3548: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments I was planning to read The Golden Key with Zaara earlier this year, then flaked out 'cause I was overbooked.
I'd be delighted to join you :)

Can't do before February though, 'cause I already over-scheduled January... *sigh*

February is fine (I already have three reads scheduled for January, so I do understand :D). Is there any particular date that month you'd prefer?

message 3550: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments I'm fine with starting any time in Feb!
Would you mind waiting for Zaara before settling on a starting date though? She should be back in a few days, and I know she really want to read this one :)
