Anyone interested in reading La Belle Sauvage by Phillip Pullman sometime within the next 3 weeks?I put it on hold at my library for the longest time, and it's now available :D
@Delitealex: My apology, I just checked my August schedule and it has been filled till the 20th. Can we start on the 21st?I feel like we probably need a separate SF buddy read group but my own local group is not as active as this one :(
Delitealex wrote: "Silvana wrote: "@Delitealex I want to read New York 2140 too but after July."

I'll probably be in for this one as well (if it's later)! I'm a big scifi junkie too so I'm usually down so long as I have time.

Did you set up a BR for Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell in the end? I would be interested in joining, though I can't fit it in my schedule before June :(

I wouldn't mind reading Jonathan Strange too. Virginie if you can't do it until June I would be ok w/ waiting and we can try to announce it then and get other people.
@E and Bill: I'll ask a for a thread for June 1st then. I'll announce it again here a few weeks before we start :)
Patrick wrote: "I would like to start Jonathan Strange before April but not sure if that works for everyone."In that case, set it up to your convenience. I don't want to make everyone wait.
I'll join if I can, and read it as fast as an old and very tired snail. :)

Yes there is already one BR slated for July with Choko, Sarah, Sha and I, but a firm date hasn't been fixed yet. @E and @Virginie, I think this will suit you both better too?
@Patrick...I think you posted once before abt this book and we all replied? Post #4124. Of course you and @Bill can go ahead if you don't want to wait until then? Just a thought..it IS a big, gently paced book. More ppl on the thred should be good fun, no? Esp if its @Choko and @Shacommemting...
Won't you consider waiting for us, Patrick?
Oh thanks Zaara. I read through this thread quickly but couldn't find if a BR was already arranged. I'll join the group in July then :)
Patrick wrote: "I didn’t see the previous posts."Oh I understand completely, there is so much going on here...all the posts, replies and BRs are hard to keep track of. Luckily the threads themselves are fantastically organised + there is the Master BR List. That's the place we all chk bk to see what's new...
Thanks for waiting, Patrick. Good of you.
@All...which I'm not gonna type out all the names....July 10?Cool?

July 10th for Strange please.
Hey everyone! I have been wanting to reread and finish out the Redwall series since I enjoyed them so much as a kid.Would anyone want to make a major goal of reading the Redwall series? There are 22 books in the "main" series, and I have probably read 10 or 15 already but want to reread. One a month (around 300 pages a piece)? I would like to start in MAY but am ok w/ pushing it back if necessary.
Redwall
Anyone wants to read Promise of Blood or The Grace of Kings? These books have been lying in my shelves for ages now. I need someone to read with me.
Beste wrote: "Also is Dune set up for Feb1? I can't see it in the master list."
I was just looking for it, I know that it was brought up here but I never saw a request for it.

July 10th works for me!
Patrick wrote: "I think Dune was requested for the middle of Feb."I'm in for DUNE. It's worth a reread. Frank Herbert is a genius writer, in my opinion that is.
I don’t know who suggested Dune originally, but I don’t think there was follow through on requesting a date for it. Do... for those who want to buddy read, we could pick a date this month and request it. What works for you guys?
Further down the discussion three of us agreed on the middle of feb but I don’t think anyone requested it for the mods to set up. I’m not sure how a thread is set up or who tells who.
Could we do Dune after April? I’m looking at my schedule and it’s overbooked until April. If not, i’ll Just read it whenever I have the time lol.
Here are some interesting books I would want to buddy read:The Philosopher's Flight
Comes out feb 13.
Magic school. Weord science/magic. Romance. Outsider male protag in women's school.
Provenance
self-pub. May be crap.
Wizard deals with life in another country.
Is on the list "genius protags" (only reason I'm reading this)
The Blue Sword
80's fantasy (40k ratings).
Lion of Senet
No magic. Court politics.
Is on the list of genius protags (trusted sources say that he is really a genius)
These I don't care about the date. But this next one I want to read ASAP, like NOW would be a good time:
Devices and Desires (many books with this title. Parker is the author here)
I'm interested in The Blue Sword. Could you do June for that one? I know it's a bit late, but I keep overbooking.
@C.P.Sure, June works.
Btw, I don't know how BR's work, like how many ppl do u need minimum? This is my first time proposing BRs.
idiffer wrote: "@C.P.Sure, June works.

Two minimum I think. Once you agree on a date, post in the Mods Please Add This Buddy Read thread. If you want to BR the entire series, you can ask for a schedule thread (usually one book per month) at the same time.
Aaaand that's it. Or I hope so, because if it's not, I've been doing it wrong :o

Awesome! What date works for you? Yes, we just need two people to set one up and then hopefully more people will join.
@CPCompletely your choice. It's a short book (250 pp), so I will manage to read it on time no matter how many other books will be fighting for my attention.
If that's the policy. Again, I don't really know what to do. But we will need someplace to discuss the book, obviously.
I just asked for it in this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...Once they set it up we will be able to use the new thread to chat about the book.
