I just finished this series and it was fantastic, will it be your first time reading it? if yes then omg you're in for a great roller coaster ride :) try not to fall too hard for Kell Maresh lol

Yay, I'll gladly help translating if you have difficulties :)
I must warn you though, it's probably a difficult book to read (in terms of vocabulary). I kind of wish I had chosen a shorter French book...
Well, maybe I'll re-read some of my favorite stories later this year if there are some people interested in practicing their French :)

Anybody have interest in Kraken by China Miéville starting in the next week? I'm doing it for the topic a-z challenge and figured I'd ask.

This kind of sounds like a weird pagan parallel (I'm just throwing that word around today) to Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch... I'll try and make time...

I've read it before - it's completely bonkers and I loved it. But don't let it colour your perception of Mieville as a whole, if you haven't read much else by him - it's great fun, but a bit all over the place at times.

message 2262: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments I'd love to read Kraken too (this year is my Mieville year) but my schedule is so full till August, guess I will just lurk and watch :(

Shaitarn | 2185 comments Would anyone be interested in reading Ursula Le Guin's novels? I was thinking of the Earthsea novels, but I'd be willing to read her sci-fi books.

message 2265: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments I recently read the first Earthsea novel and would be up for trying the rest. I probably can't start until March though.

message 2266: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments @Shaitarn - I read the first 4 books very long time back and didn't continue with the series. I'd be up for a reread of the first 4 and a read of the rest in the series.

message 2267: by Mayim (new)

Mayim de Vries | 2948 comments I think I read her when I was too young. I wasn't ready for Le Guin and I wasn't charmed.

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments same here Mayim. that's why I'd be up for a reread now. I wonder if I'll like it more at this age. :)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments @ C. P., Laura & Mayim. As we all have plenty of buddy reads scheduled how would you all feel about starting this towards the end of May? I was looking at around 22nd. As usual we could do 1 book a month. Would that work for everyone?
