Iain, Bill and I will be reading The Black Gryphon together since we're all participating in the book cover challenge and have to read a book with a gryphon on the cover. We'll be starting on March 26th for anyone else who wishes to join us. It's my first Mercedes Lackey book.

Thanks, Sarah. It's always good to hear positive feedback. :-)

Im in for White sand Vol 2 whenever! Was there a White Sand vol1 buddy read? I dont recall. I feel that maybe we should schedule for both volumes for those that havent read the first.
I got halfway through white sand before I dropped it and I got the physical edition I wouldn't mind buddy reading it so we can run up to the second volume
@Sarr Awesome! Does beginning of February work for you to start?Jess and Ahdam, I'm good with doing a reread of Volume One and then going into Volume Two. Since they are short do you want to do the first one around February 12th and then the second when it releases or a little after?
Delitealex wrote: "Anyone up for Wake of Vultures Feb or later"I'd like to read it but I probably won't have time till May. I might have time mid-March but I can't give you a definite answer till closer to then.
I guess I will be doing a graphic novel this year... cause I want to read white sand since it's part of the Cosmere... I listened to the snippet in Arcanum Unbounded... Sand magic sounds interesting...

I will definitely reading some graphics and manga this year. bRe-reading Black Butler is a big one. I take it you're not a fan...

I just don't do comics or graphic novels... never have... just was never a cost-effective medium for me... pages per $$$ and all that... I also don't have a color tablet... I have a kindle and a phone, so I don't have a good device for the digital route other than my PC screen... so I've stuck to ebooks and audiobooks...

I get that. For all the manga I read, there's only one series I own and I buy them on super-discount. If you're ever tempted though, you can read most manga online for free and they are black & white so...

Iain,There are ways to read comics for free. Most libraries have apps now. Mine has hoopla which has a ton of comics and allow a panel-by-panel option for viewing like on your phone.
I dont buy digital comics anymore unless i cant check out from library, download through the hoopla app, or read at leisure at a book store. Youre right, comics are way too expensive. I always read graphic novels. Yes you have to wait until the comics are collected, but the money you save!
I'm wanting to read
sometime this year if anyone's up for it. It's an early Kim Harrison book and has dragons.
Charlie wrote: "I'm wanting to read

So on my phone, the above post looks like "I'm wanting to read
sometime this year if anyone's up for it. It's an early Kim Harrison book and has dragons".
This was a book I had an interest in reading but I couldn't find it anywhere Charlie I don't think there's an ebook copy anywhere
Its First Truth by Dawn Cook (Kim Harrison) for anyone that can't see it. I have a physical copy, I've never searched for a kindle version.Edit: I've just checked Amazon, no kindle version but they have physical copies for a penny plus postage on the marketplace or for about £5 from Amazon directly. I'm hoping to get the others cheap from the marketplace.
Niki Hawkes wrote: "I loved Harrison's truth series!! It's a slowly paced read, but delightful all the same. :)"
I'm really looking forward to it Niki. I love Kim Harrison so I'm hoping it's as good as The Hollows series.

Android. Maybe that's the difference.

I think so.
Book covers show up for me in the app (iOS) but not right away, they load a big slow. So I see a gap for a bit and then the cover shows up later.
I’ve only see that happen when people post images. They don’t appear at first, but if I come back to the thread, say the next day, they will appear, but out of whack (as though too large for the screen).
It’s been 3 hours since the book cover post, and it is still a blank space. I’ll try to remember to check tomorrow.

Yes, I can manage that. No problem :)

The cover showed up via the app this morning. So there seems to be a significant delay between the desktop version and the app.
I usually get images to work in the app by leaving the page and returning... most images load on the second try...
On topic: I have a ton of new releases I'm anticipating this year... and the majority of them qualify for this group I think (mostly Urban Fantasy with a bit of SF/Steampunk)... is anybody else caught up on any or these series and would like to read them close to their release dates?
Heart on Fire -- Kingmaker Chronicles #3 -- 1/2 (so soon-ish... I actually see Choko is planning to read this soon)
Beneath the Sugar Sky -- Wayward Children #3 -- 1/9 (tomorrow... another soon-ish)
Sightwitch -- Witchlands #2.5 -- 2/13
Lake Silence -- Others #6 -- 3/6
Tricks for Free -- InCryptid #7 -- 3/6
Burn Bright -- Alpha & Omega #5 -- 3/6
Scourged -- Iron Druid Chronicles #9 -- 4/3
An Argumentation of Historians Chronicles of St. Mary's #9 -- 4/12 (I know this is on the schedule for the end of the year, but I can't wait that long...)
Magic Triumphs -- Kate Daniels #10 -- 5/8
Marked -- Alex Verus #9 -- 6/7
Competence -- Custard Protocol #3 -- 7/17
Stars Uncharted -- new book from author of Linesman (unrelated) -- 8/14
Night and Silence -- October Daye #12 -- 10/1

Anyone have any interest in Master Assassins by Robert V.S. Redick? It's available as a "Read Now" on NetGalley, with an archive date of March 6th.
That one looks really interesting, Chris. I might have to give it a try. I'll check Netgalley. Did you want to buddy read? When were you thinking?
C.P. wrote: "That one looks really interesting, Chris. I might have to give it a try. I'll check Netgalley. Did you want to buddy read? When were you thinking?"Yes, I downloaded it the other day and thought it would be a good fit here.
Maybe mid to late February?
I am planning on starting The Faithful and The Fallen series in the next few months. If anyone if interested in joining me for Malice, I am flexible with the date.
I am late to the bandwagon, as a lot of people already read it. :(

I'm also very late to that particular bandwagon.
I'd like to read the series, but have a busy next couple months.
If you don't mind waiting until May, I could join you!
Malice - yesyesyes. Everyone (ahem, Liam) has amped up my excitement to try the series, so I've been itching to get going on it. Just throwing out that April is a good month for me.
