I'd be up for that, Saar! Another trilogy removed from the TBR pile!

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments Anyone interested to read Embassytown by China Mieville? I am thinking May or June 2018.

Hailee | 2762 comments Silvana wrote: "Anyone interested to read Embassytown by China Mieville? I am thinking May or June 2018."

I'd be interested. I've owned Perdido Street Station for years. Maybe reading a shorter book by him will help me decide whether starting that series is worth it.

message 1755: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments Would anyone want to read the Pendragon Cycle by Stephen Lawhead starting with Taliesin.

If there is interest I'm open to when we start, whenever people have an opening in there schedules.

Nice! Shall I ask for a thread for May 15th start?

I have read PDS but also want to look for BR for The Scar sometime next year (maybe in the third quarter). Pirates! :D

message 1757: by Silvana (last edited Dec 07, 2017 06:53PM) (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1970 comments I also have some stand alones that might be interesting for BR as you don't have to commit too much.

Hunter's Run by George RR Martin, Gardner Dozois and Daniel Abraham
The Armageddon Rag by George too. Suffice to say I am trying to finish his other fiction aside from ASOIAF and related books. Dude has written some awesome SF and horror too.
Roverandom by Tolkien
The Salt Roads by Nalo Hopkinson
Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand
Black Light by Elizabeth Hand

Let me know if anyone of you want to BR those sometime next year - preferably May/June onwards.

Hi I could squeeze it in then if that's the only time you can do but the beginning or the end of May would be better for me. Would either of those work with you schedule?

How about The Scar for June? I can do any dates.

Perfect. How about July 15th?

End of May sounds good. I'll ask the mods to make the thread.

message 1767: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments @Laura and @Deitealex I'm not sure if I'll also have time to do Perdido Street Station as well but if I do end up having time I'll try and join in.

message 1768: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments I am currently struggling to read Perdido Street Station, it isn't bad just a bit... difficult? If I still haven't read it till your Buddy Read I might also join :)

I asked for a week in between both - it does not matter whether you need another week to finish Embassytown before PDS. We don't have to be too punctual. I know I don't :D

message 1774: by Anni (last edited Dec 08, 2017 05:02AM) (new)

Anni | 5066 comments I haven't dared to make a suggestion so far, because I have so many buddy reads planned, but as it won't get better in the future I think it's better to plan ahead :D

Does anyone like to join me on
The Dragonbone Chair,
Furies of Calderon
or Just One Damned Thing After Another
sometime next year?

I would also be up for Codex Alera if done in June or later.
I've read Just One Damned Thing After Another, but would be up for more of the series if there was interest.

Also Anni I hope you read the dragonbone chair we had a group read of it early this year and I still need to read the second book and so far it's currently on my favourite book list and I'm enjoying Tad Williams books so far

I'd be up for a read of Dragonbone Chair. Both Chris and Ahdam have convinced me I need to read it sooner than later. :)

Loved codex alera.

Haha yes I saw the schedule after I posted that. I just don't want to give a definate yes and then have to back out last minute. I'm a member of several really active groups so I don't know what might come up later on. Committing to a standalone like Embassytown feels safer than committing to a trilogy that will take place over several months.

Let's see, where to place them all...
@Delitealex, Shaitarn, Veronica, Siobhan what do you think of the 15. April for One Damn Thing after Another and one book a month onwards? Then we finish the series in December 2018 :D

That works for me, Anni.

message 1794: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments And for Codex Alera maybe late in August? 20.?

When do you like to start the Dragonbone Chair? Also late next year? November would work for me, but I think I could also squeeze it in somewhere if this is to late for you :)

Surprisingly I don't have much scheduled in April, so I could fit Dragonbone chair in as early as that. July is also a good month.

message 1797: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments February and March would work better for me. But if it is April, I could start a bit earlier cause I'm not a fast reader ;)

Between the two, march is the better bet for me. But I can wait until November if it's adding too much. :)

message 1800: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments Both will work for me, we could wait for Olivia to decide :)
