When would be a good time to set up a The Way of Kings month?"

Hi Morte, Here a late appearance / reply to your WoK question. Like Zaara said, she and I hadn't set a date yet for reading it but I was kinda hoping to start after all my other buddy reads are done, which is the end of April.

Now I could try to do March or even February but I gotta be honest and I just don't know if I can do 5 chapters EVERY day. I usually don't have all that much reading time available to me during week nights - it varies, so it's pretty likely I would have to play catch up during the weekends so.... to make a long story short....

I'll leave it to Zaara if she wants to join you and Siobhan in March and as for myself, if it's in any way feasible for me, I'll join your merry bandwagon as well.

EchoBaz(Unofficial World's Fastest Reader) | 459 comments I was hoping for February, but yeah, I'll settle for March.

@Dani If that's the case, maybe you could give yourself a bit of a head start.

So that's me, Dani, Sibbion and Zaara who want to read it? Alright, hope we can get some more people interested.

@Zaara Actually you didn't. I read the preview for the first book. I can't immerse myself in it, so there's no point in reading it.

EchoBaz(Unofficial World's Fastest Reader) | 459 comments Awesome! Also, there's a books that comes out at the end of this month Blood and Tempest Anyone interested in it? I'm hoping t read it in either January or February, having thought of the series as the best DECENT series I've ever read.

message 1461: by Zaara (new)

Zaara | 4273 comments @Iain:
This #goat is actually GRATEful you lent a hand to lead @MorteTomrent out of the Zaza swamps. Also I'm now really really hoping Malazan isn't one of those farout anthropomorphic series...the goat thing really got me...like Tooth and Claw is Jane Austen with anthropomorphic DRAGONS (you hearing this #Austengals?) and the book is really adorable cuz dragons in luuuuurve and sweet dragon babies and...
xept for when the dragons start going on carriage rides...which did stretch my credibility a bit...cuz these dragons are forty feet tall and imagine the size of the wheels and *snort* what type of horse could pull...
Sooooo if Malazan is gonna be abt a creepy Fedora-wearing goat army on the Crusades wielding cattle prods as lightsabers or something...tell me now and I am out. Oh whom I kidding? I already bought all of the Fallen. This evil series is giving me trepidation, terrors, inferiority copmlex.
Oh and Iain...I fixed the xcuz=because thing bcuz...fair point! On;y dude...I'm worried i will soon have a relapse...
But re the rest...to be fair...on;y yesterday I posted an essay of comparable size on the new recommendations thread and this girl of thirteen was able to make it thru the end...no issues. And that was without all the nicknames explained in userfriendly brackets.
Picking up an unfriendly foreign language ain't that hard ;-)
I'm just sayin'...

And hey...all part of the confunding plan that @Ron and I have...thazz two days you weren't reading...goood goood...she is gonna keep you all distracted over at GGG and I'm gonna switch the nicknames up nowww....generate ramdom numbers...
Meanwhile you just keep spilling youz guts like this to the enemy and by the end of 2018 Team Feathered Friends Blood Birds will deffo be blessed. By their own priest!
Mwha!

But now you went and did it, gal...you cant tempt me like this and expect me to jezzt shaddup...I have no control, my love...
And Mortie dear...run while you can...

I've had tooth and claw on my wish list for a good few years now. It does sound really fun!

message 1466: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments I'm also up for Way of Kings next year. I tried reading it a few years ago and gave up half way through. Reading it on kindle was tough as it seemed like I'd made no progress despite reading for hours but now I have a physical copy of the book I'd like to give it a go.

Yeap. To see if I could be of help.

message 1481: by Zaara (new)

Thank you, Beste dear. And altho' I'm sure you don't actually need this *weird but true advice alert* you seem very trusting...be careful with strangers ok. This is the Internet. What if I was a jerk or a creep?

message 1483: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8702 comments Wow Zaara huni you surpassed yourself with that last essay. Totally agree with you though.

April would in fact be better for me to read Way of Kings as I hope to do all of Mistborn first. Give me any date after 10th and I'm in! Charlie, Zaara, Dan, that good for you too?

Tooth and Claw is on my high priority list, hoping to fit it in next month. I can't think of a good day to start except maybe 24th? That would in theory give me three days before Last Argument of Kings, but with Xmas will probably be busy! Hmm. Does anyone else have a good date closer than June? XD

message 1484: by Zaara (new)

Zaara | 4273 comments @Siobhan, thank you. I needed to hear that. Xpecially from you or Margret or the Holy Father.

Yeah did you hear there's an ebook of the Complete Malazan BotF.
Wtf...i mean just imagine! I have all the shiny new paperbacks....
And I just bought ALL of Sweaters after finishing Book 1 amd since I had Sweaters with the ugly cover and I had all crushed it during my hate for Oonagh phase I went and bought a double copy of Book 1 with the creamy yellow paper and the starkly beautiful black and white cover...I don't go this insane on all series...
So yeah...gonna wait a bit until my shelves (and budget) stop yowling for mercy...

Not going to lie, April would be better for me too.
I only have a couple buddy reads so far, but have some personal life/real world stuff that will be going on in March so I could have less reading time than normal.

Siobhan wrote: "Yep just need to see what date works for all :) sorry Sarah, I totally meant to ask you as well and Zaara noticed my mistake!!"

No worries! :)

You have all these conversations while I'm sleeping and/or on my way to work, lol!

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8702 comments I'm in the UK, so I get you guys at work and Zaara going to sleep (when she gets round to doing that). Haha!

Does 10th April seem to work for people then? That would give Dani and Zaara 7 days before their next read.

message 1496: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I'm convinced Zaara never sleeps. Choko either based on how many books she reads and how fast she reads them.

I work nights... so I get up at 8pm and chime in on all the afternoon conversations I missed while sleeping... then check in through the night at work... Euro-people usually start popping in after my lunch and on towards the end of my shift it seems... by the time I get home from work in the morning, Zaara is burning the midnight oil and blaming me... by the time day-people are talking on work breaks/lunches, I'm heading to bed...

That date works for me.

Yeah, you kind of get the best of both that way.

LOL

I opened GR to 35 notifications this morning. Craziness!

message 1500: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8702 comments Sarah, it is actually crazy!! I need an extra half hour to get ready for work in a morning just so I can get through some notifications. XD

Awesome, I'll ask for a thread for 10th! Shall we just schedule WoK for now, then decide when's best for WoR while we're reading?
